It's normal BJ, as a matter of fact you can also use it as a tasty topping for Jello Salad, etc. I've heard that Victory oil, whose formula is a closely-guarded secret, is at least part lutefisk oil so there are several other Norwegian dishes it compliments wonderfully. Not bad as a pre-shave lubricant either. Of course only us Hammer riders get the oil hot enough to take advantage of the beneficial foaming properties. Can Amsoil give you that "Victory Edge"? Only in their dreams.

So, if your culinary prowess as well as your engine's primary protection mean anything to you and your family , stick with the finest, the original, the one-and-only Victory Oil, endorsed by Rachael Ray and Emeril Lagasse for use in the finest kitchens and by Al Unser, Jr. for use on the track.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned about Amsoil is there is a specific Amsoil for wet clutches. In fact, it even states on the container it is for Victory. I get it at Fleet Farm in St. Cloud but it's not really much cheaper than the Victory kit. I ride about 5-6k per winter in Florida and it seems to shift better as the ambient temps go up. I've used Amsoil in my 'Wings and had no problems. I do see the common sense perspective that if it's not a big improvement and not a big cost difference why switch?

Bruce, welcome aboard and I believe you answered your own question, Victory makes it easy, use their kit. When I sold Amsoil in the 1960s there wasn't much competition so it made sense and was the only real syn choice. Now you can drive yourself batty choosing oils. If using Amsoil use their drop-down selector for you bike and stick with it. If an engine failure happens using factory approved oil you can get mad at them and bitch to everyone, if it happens with your choice, well......

The Amsoil Warranty only covers failed equipment if it can be proven that Amsoil was defective and that the oil's defect caused the failure. Good luck. You must also prove that you strictly adhered to all of the manufacturer's recommendations, intervals, etc. Not much solace in that.

I use Rotella T6 in many applications and it's cheap, I use Mobil 1 in others. I only use Victory oil in Victory, there's not enough evidence, performance increases or savings for me to switch. I also will not extend my oil changes beyond 3k no matter what claims are made.

Against my own advice I decided to give Rotella T6 synthetic a try since I keep several gallons on hand and don't have a warranty to consider. Several Victory riders on other sites have posted how they like it. I use it in other applications with success as well.

Not in the Touring Cruiser. After 350 miles I switched back to Vic oil. The valve train was very loud and had an annoying whine since I first put it in. The clutch was beginning to develop a choppy engagement in all gears. I switched back and the noises disappeared as well as the clutch issue. Victory does have a special sauce in their oil, from my experience anyway. I guess I'll use the 6 qts of little-used T6 on salads for a while, or maybe it has high SPF properties and I can rub it on. Sure smells nice.

Well, this will be my first oil change on my Vic at 5K miles next week. 5K in month and half year in Minnesota, not bad for a first summer. I will be using the Amisol 20/50 and I will let you know if I see or notice any difference between the Vic oil the dealer used at the 500 mile change and what I use now. If weather holds out might just have another 5K this summer.

Just to add another bump to this thread...

It appears that Amsoil has created their secret sauce for specific Victory and Indian applications.

Let's also talk about oil filters.

Here is a copy of recommended alternative oil filters for the Vic.

I have used the Bosch 3323 and the Honda motorcycle filter that is listed under "not recommended ".

But the Honda filter IS a motorcycle filter.
Weird?

Anyway, I'm changing the oil today.....gotta check the stock on hand...probably Vic oil.
