That's a shame. Now he is building them with an Indian company. had not heard this. There were a lot of Buell bikes out on the salt.

It looks like Hero Motorcycles in India has bought 49% of his company and they have had collaborative engineering for a while.

Sounds like some of the bikes might be made in India and sold here, but also lots of EBR engineering went in to a slew of new bikes that are for the Indian Market.

So it doesn't sound like the EBR 1190R will be Indian Made as of now. Given that they only sold 25 of them last year, having some deep pockets will probably help the US operations.

Eric Buell is a class guy, Harley started screwing him from the get go and he will not say anything bad about them.

At least he seems to have learned his lesson by not letting Hero have a majority share of the company.

I always liked the Buells, especially the tube framed Lightning. Larry, did you ever have a Buell in your giant stable of bikes?

No, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express. I rode a lightning and it didn't do much for me. Somehow the HD potato charisma didn't seem to jive with the sport bike theme like Ducati could pull it off. Loved the look and concept but not the reality.

That's pretty cool. I wonder where they are are getting parts to ensure they can stay on the road? Maybe EBR supplied them with a couple of years worth before shutting down...

I am kinda surprised - I didn't know EBR went - teets up?

Too bad, they seemed to be doing some neat things. But, as I have seen before, some of the best engineers/R&D folk aren't the best biz-nit people.

As well, there are a lot of biz-nit people aren't the best biz-nit people.

I am also surprised Hero, didn't keep a closer watch on the EBR books.

Sad, I didn't know they were out of business either.

http://www.cycleworld.com/2015/04/15...es-operations/

Sounds like Erik Buell wants to try to reorganize and keep things going. But I guess $25 Million doesn't go as far as it used to.

Maybe Polaris can snatch him up and bring his motor design into the fold.

That's good news!

Very few people have been able to grab more HP out of the H-D platform. And, it's always good to have people doing what it takes to push the envelope and make products better.
