2019 Fall Color Ride

Per the pole above would you rather do this ride on September 28/29 or October 5/6?

As far as the ride itself we will meet at the BP gas station (1035 Co Rd E East, Vadnais Heights, MN 55110) If anyone would like to have breakfast there is a Perkins across the street.

7-8:00 BS/Eat/Fill Up

8:00am KSU Ride the slab from Vadnais Heights to Cloquet (125 miles 2 hours) gas up

10:30am Cloquet to Ely (108 miles 2 hours) gas up

1pm Lunch Boathouse Brewpub & Restaurant 47 E Sheridan St, Ely, MN

2:30pm Ely to Finland (72 miles 2 hours)

4:30 Finland to Grand Marais (52 miles 1 hour) gas up/liquor store

5:30pm Grand Marais (32 miles 1 hour)

6:30 on try NOT to get eaten by a bear and NO humping the moose.

This trip without stops is 7hr and 371 miles.

As far as lodging there are two options:

A)Stay in (1) big cabin that sleeps 22, with 2 bathrooms, 2 living areas, 9 queen beds (3 in 1 bedroom & 2 in 3 bedrooms) This will cost around $40 a person

B)Stay in individual cabins like we’ve done it the past?

Please take the poll and provide your lodging comments below. The final decisions will be made on August 15th.

This is a general outline of the day; I’ll update it as we get closer with the fine details.

I voted, but not sure if I will be able to go. It will depend on what's happening at work those two weekends.

The Fall Color Run will be Saturday, October 5 at Hungry Jack Lodge in Grand Marias. Cabins are being held for the TCVR group. If you want to get a cabin being held call 1-218-388-2265. There are a few cabins not being held and you can book those on line at https://hungryjacklodge.com/. If you have any questions you can contact me at shellym2@comcast.net or Mat

Mat already has a cabin booked but I don't know which one. Roy and I took one of the single cabins with a king bed, Fox. There are still 2 cabins left that are single with a king, Otter and Beaver.

Tracey: You can book a cabin and then find people to share or see who books a cabin and ask if you can share with them. I posted phone number and web page address. If you book a cabin please let me know so I can keep track of what's booked who is staying in which cabin and where there are opening. Thank you for your cooperation.

Paul and Tracey
Kelli and Kyle
Rick J.
Tiff and Marc

Cabins:

Fox - 2 = Roy and Shelly
Wolf - 2 to 4 = Reserved but I don't know who has it
Grouse - 2 to 4 = Nancy, Ernie, Tiff and Marc
Bear - 2 to 5 = Mat, Maria, John and Jen (Mat can you get one more if needed? I think there is a futon also in the cabin)
Elk - 4 to 6 - Reserved but I don't know how has it
Otter - 1 king - Open not reserved
Beaver - 1 king - Open not reserved

The Deer Cabin is still open. It sleeps a lot. I will be willing to transfer over my reservation to the Deer Cabin so there will be enough places to sleep. However, to make it economical, I will need at least 6 additional people to commit to staying here. It has 9 Queen beds. So, I figure Me, Roy, Richard, Renee, John Johnson. Maybe Deb if she wants to transfer over. Not sue. Anyone else need a place to sleep? If not, I'll stay put. Deer is $375 a night and right know I have a single king bed cabin for $205. Please let me know.

Fox - 1 King = Roy and Shelly
Grouse - 2 to 4 = Nancy, Ernie, Tiff, Marc

As I stated, if there is enough interested for more sleeping space, I will trade in my King bed cabin to the Deer cabin which has more sleeping space. I just need to know who is interested.
