2010-17 Cross Country rear brake issue
I just found out about this issue:
Apparently, the clip that holds the rear brake line in place is melting, and causing the brake line its self to droop too close to the exhaust. That can cause a lock-up. If the clip hasn't been damaged, they're just putting a new clip on and protecting it with some sort of heat shield. IF the clip has been damaged, they replacing the parts. VS-17-2 Good to hear that Polaris is on it. Now they have to get the parts and procedures out to all the dealers. I'm not sure if they will notify bike owners proactively or not.

That's interesting! I have heard about this, but didn't really pay attention until I looked at the Bulletin you posted.
It says that the heat from the catalytic converter on the left pipe can cause this issue and the clip on the passenger footpeg is the culprit. I have had the converters removed on Big Red, so I wonder if it'll be a problem? Also, I think mine may be routed differently since I had some length cut out of the peg mount and re-welded. I'll have to look once it's up in the air. |

There was also some speculation about bikes that have a lot of exhaust popping generating more heat in that area. And with the hotter summer months upon us, popping becomes more prevalent. It'd be a good thing for anyone with their bike in the air to examine.
