boot burn

i have a small spot on my exhaust where my boot touched it on a ride ive tried different things with no luck anyone with suggestions to get this off?

0000 steel wool and WD-40 if it is chrome.

Thanks i will try that i was wondering about steel wool but did not think about using WD-40 with it thanks Gibby

There's an even easier way to get rubber off exhaust, oven cleaner. Get the exhaust hot, spray some oven cleaner on it. Let it sit for a bit. Wipe off. It is safe for chrome as oven racks are often chrome.

Do NOT spray directly on your pipes! It will ruin your paint. Instead I take the bike out for a spin to heat up the pipes, then put a rag on the ground far away from the bike, spray oven cleaner on the rag and then put the rag on the hot pipes. Leave it for 5-10 minutes and wipe away!

FYI

I use oven cleaner to remove gun stock finishes, works terrifically. It will not only ruin your paint it will remove it.
