Alaska Summer Solstice Ride 2019

This topic has come up from time to time, so, I figured I would start a thread on it. As some of you know our big trip in the summer of 2019 will be riding up to Wasilla, AK (43 miles North of Anchorage) for a softball game that starts at mid-night on June 21st which is Summer Solstice. I’ve got family who has invited us to play in the game. That sounds like a good reason to ride to Alaska to me. By the way I don’t play or like softball

Below you will find very rough schedule:

•3,133 miles (1-way) Mpls to Wasilla
•54 hours from Mpls to Wasilla
•Leave Saturday June 15th which means an average of 448 miles a day to be there on the 21st, this will give us more than enough time to take our time and checkout stuff along the way.
•Leave Wasilla, AK on Monday June 24th so we can be home Saturday the 29th

I know people will have questions and like I said this is a very very rough schedule, as it gets closer I’ll have an in-person riders meeting so we can workout all the fine details.

Any input would be appreciated, thanks!!

Does anyone know if Fairbanks is worth going to? I see it's within riding distance.

This recent article has a map at the bottom with Wasilla as the southern point. Might give you some ideas, as long as you are going up there. They were on dual-sport bikes.

Updated DUI Laws for entry to Canada

FYI - big changes for entry to Canada!!

Beginning in December 2018, individuals who have previously been admitted to Canada with a DUI offense on record may now find themselves inadmissible and unable to enter the country. These inadmissible travelers should be prepared to lodge a rehabilitation application or, in some cases, they may apply for a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) which permits short-term entry. Additionally, government filing fees for the adjudication of a rehabilitation request for an impaired driving offence will increase from CAD $200 to CAD $1,000 when the law comes into effect this coming December.

Interested

I will be riding to Hyder for the "Hyder Seek" around June 8-9. I would be interested in meeting up with this group to go up to Wasilla with you.
