Media Display on CCT

My media display on my CC tour went blank and then it said "Display Updating" on the screen and stayed that way until I turning the bike off. When I restarted, the screen was blank and remained so. Anyone else have this problem? What would be updating? It was in radio mode and radio worked, but again didn't display, station, volume, mode etc.

You took it's spirit away taking it's image at night. Just a guess.

In other words I do not have a clue.

Thanks for the response Sparky! I had Red Wing look at it when I was there Sat. They didn't have a clue either why it would say "Display Updating", but it looks like the radio it self is bad. Victory has had problems with the 2013 CC radios, but of course it isn't covered under the extended warranty. I know a guy that is on his second replacement.

That kind of sucks if it's a known issue and they won't cover it under warranty.

Was Red Wing your original dealer? If not, you may want to go back to the dealer you bought it from and see what they have to say.

Thanks Joe. No, I bought mine at MIES Outland. Red Wing was nice enough to take a look at the display and run my VIN to check on the warranty while I was there.

I talked to MIES and they hadn't seen that wording on the display either but they suspect it is the module. So the good news is if it is the module, they might be able to cover it under the extended warranty, but they were hesitant to commit until they ran the diagnostic. The bad news is the media assembly is outsourced and they have to ship the whole unit to them to repair and the estimate is a few weeks to get it back.

None of those answers sound good.

I never use my stereo. If it's something relatively easy, we could swap mine out to put in yours.

Same here!

I bought a good used i-pod from a nephew....and only used it once.
I would rather listen to the bike.....or myself talking to myself again!

Damn....I hate it when I get caught doing that!

Thanks Rick, that is a very generous offer and I appreciate it!!

I thought about taking the unit out myself (not that big of a deal) and taking it in so I wouldn't tie up the bike at the shop, but since I don't know exactly what is going on, I would be worried about messing with any chance they will cover the repairs under warranty. MIES has treating me fairly for the most part, but they didn't cover my bag latch replacement a couple of months out of warranty and it wasn't covered under the extended warranty. Like you, I'm right in the middle of the Victory dealers and it is a major event to figure out the logistics of taking it in to the shop.

I can do without the music as well, but with all things electrical, I don't know the cause and effect of letting it go and it messing with the bike out on the road.

Thanks again for the offer of support!

Funny enough, I have added an amp and larger speakers to my XC but really only listen when I am around town or in the twisties and wearing a half helmet. When out on the highway or wearing the 3/4 helmet, I can't hear a damn thing, so it stays off...

Anyhow, Kent I hope Mies gets the issue resolved for you soon.

Around town the absolute last thing I want to do is listen to tunes cranked up so loud that I can hear them. I want to here:
1.) other traffic - it could save your hide
2.) the sound of the road
3.) the sound of the motor (though I prefer the older motors)
4.) my T(humper)-pod that is infinitely programmable, and I don't have to worry about controlling it from the slapped-on switch pod.
