a rider wrote me with this question

Since I am not a motor head.

I have a 2001 v92c ..i bought a aftermarket chip 4020350 and put a new tps in it...i reset static tps then set the idle ..seems to be running lean and poppin a little..i have stock pipes with aftermarket cycle shack slipons with a high flow k&n filter..the stock chip runs a little rich but good. Any thoughts ?

I don't know what chip he has.

I recall the early Cobra brand chips were better than later/other brand chips.
Could be some air leaks somewhere - after this much time am certain some of the rubber has broken down.

At idle - have him spray some starting fluid around all intake areas - if the idle goes up, or it starts to stall - air is getting in somewhere. The older bikes were harder to keep sealed than the newer ones.

#434 pops a little too - but runs pretty damn good. I call it character.

Do the same trick around the fuel injectors too. I think there can be leaks around there as well. I *think* there is a little rubber o-ring that seal them.

Also, make sure that the header pipe flanges are tight to the heads (tighten the nuts). Air leaking in there will do the same.
