LaCrosse

I'm thinking of taking a short trip to Lacrosse next week. what are some good routes in the area and do you have a gpx file or can provide a route of some sort? Nothing major, just have a few days off and looking at a short easy trip.

Maybe down to Hannibal, or even St. Louis (make sure you stop to get ribs-Bogarts is one of the best) and then loop back on the IL/WI side to Lacrosse?

Mount Evans is nice too - highest paved road in North America. Very different than Pikes Peak, and awesome in different way.

Other one? Although I have been to both Pikes Peaks numerous times, I do not know which Pikes Peak is the "other one". If you tell me which one that you consider not to be the "other one" then I can tell you which one is the "other one".

If you're referring to the "less famous" one, it's in Iowa: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pikes_Peak_State_Park. I was planning on a stop there on the way back from a trip to IL last year to got cancelled which is the only reason I've heard of it. I'm a fan of visiting places that have the same name as a place that's more known like Pittsburg, IL or Cincinnati, IA.

I went to an MSTA event at LaCrosse last year. Once down there you can't go wrong with any of the smaller roads that wander NE/East/SE of LaCrosse. Like 33 east from LaCrosse. 162 from Stoddard to Bangor. S that heads NE from Onalaska. Just keep stringing the various roads together.

Last year some of those roads had short gravel repair sections and they were not flagged. One of them was on a downhill curve just over the top of a hill and one guy went down.

You can make a good day of riding getting down there if you head to the ABC roads and take the most inefficient route possible that eventually gets you in that direction.
