No. Not without riding dozens of miles of gravel.

Luckily, it's an abandon railway bridge and the MNDOT is going to remove it. They expect to have that section of Hwy 61 passable by this afternoon. I will monitor, but don't expect any issues for our trip.

One Month Away! Who's excited?

Wayne - I highly recommend the electrically heated clothing. It will extend your riding season greatly. Your bike will easily have enough power for 2 full suits.
Dr Mudspringers has Gerbings. I'm not sure what Bob's carries for electric gear, but they can order it for you. FirstGear thru an on-line retailer, like Revzilla is also a good way to go.

The Fall Color Run up to the Gunflint Trail is just over 2 weeks away. There should still be one cabin left. Plus Wayne has 1 spot open (futon for 2) as do I (queen pull-out).

Wayne - another option is Gordon's Heated Clothing. This is owned by the family that originally created Gerbings. They sold to another company a few years ago and have now started a new line. Gordons website: http://www.gordonsheated.com/

That's a good point, MamaT. And, Gordon's stands behind their products, where Gerbing no longer does. Also, some have tried the Milwaukee battery heated coat with decent results. But, there are other threads for heated clothing.

I've been checking the Fall Color reports.
  • The SmokeyMountains color predictor site says the state of Minnesota should be about 50% turned by now, I think that they are either drinking too much moonshine or just don't have a good understanding of Minnesota weather this (or last) year. https://smokymountains.com/fall-foliage-map/
  • The Explore Minnesota website usually starts publishing Fall Color reports the 1st week of September; but they have not published a report, yet. The most recent report is from Oct 2016. http://www.exploreminnesota.com/news...-color-report/
  • The Minnesota DNR has a website that reports the color percentage at all of the state parks. And, as we know, the North Shore has plenty of MN State Parks. All parks in that area show that the percentage of colors are currently at 0-10%. That is their lowest rating and what it shows in June through August. http://dnr.state.mn.us/fall_colors/index.html

So, with over 2 weeks left before launch, I think our timing is going to be GREAT for some awesome fall colors!

On our trip to Aerostich this past weekend, there was very little color change.
I would have to say it was 90-95% green

I bought a California Heat liner from Mudspringers after my not-very-old Gerbing liner quit working. Not happy with Gerbing. So far I'm happy with California Heat. (I would have love to order from Gordon's, but needed something right away as it was 2 weeks before the IBR and no time to order anything online.)

Hi Connie,
the Gerbing's have a lifetime warranty on the heating elements. You should be able to bring them to a Gerbings dealer and have them sent for a free repair.

I understand your situation and you had to have something for your epic challenge.

But, Gerbings should still fix your liner under their warranty. I would like to know if they give you issues.

What I found was that the normal place where the Gerbings wear out is in the power supply cord. That, they no longer warranty. They quoted $45 for the repair. Luckily, mine was purchased prior to their change in warranty and I kept the warranty card, so I was able to get mine repaired for free after I emailed them a scan of the documentation. Took about a week.
