201 / Jay Cooke Construction End In Sight!

One of my pet peeves of living in Minnesota is the Dept of Transportation.

I've been in the fairly remote mountains of Colorado when they have a wash out, and the road is back open and being repaired within a few hours.
When Beartooth Pass collapsed several years ago, that road was made better than it ever was by the next year.

I've driving in Norway, where they get 18 meters of snow some seasons and haven't seen a single pothole!

And then, there's our great state on Minnesota. Where the DOT decides to make areas like Spaghetti Junction in St Paul, that we don't need a was to go North on I-35W when we are driving East on 94 (among many other noticeable missing intersections), and that it's OK to take 4 years to work on a 2-mile stretch of Hwy 201.

But, good news. Very good news. One of the prettiest little stretches of road in Minnesota will be re-opening in October of this year. FINALLY!!! Let's hope it's done early enough for a nice fall colors ride through the park and Hwy 23.

A two-mile-long section of Hwy 210, which serves as the east entrance to Jay Cooke State Park is closed due to significant damage from severe flooding that occurred in June 2012. MnDOT is repairing slopes, restoring damage, reestablishing vegetation and resurfacing the highway in areas that washed out during the 2012 flood.

Work began in late-May 2015 and will be completed in October 2016. The highway will remain closed until the work in completed.

I was actually scared that they were going to turn that little gem into a bicycle path or something "green" like that. Very glad that we will be getting our road back.

Gotta love MN Road Construction and the Politics that go with it.

FYI - MN 210 STILL ISN'T DONE!!! It washed out in 2012 and now they are planning on opening it sometime in October of 2017. OVER 5 YEARS to fix a 2-mile stretch of road.

BTW - Sparky, would you fix the typo in the thread totle from "201" to "210"?

Thanks, Northstarr, for posting the video of the NEWLY RE-OPENED HWY 210.

It doesn't look like they smoothed out many of the curves too much. This video was taken on Friday, 2 days after the road re-opening.
