Hammer exhaust

So, the hammer has Vic shotguns. I love the sound and look. But...spring will bring a few upgrades and if I tune I don't want to do it twice. Is it worth shopping? I'm not spending a grand for two HP, keep that in mind. A little searching and other than conquest it seems the shutdown has affected options.

If I keep these pipes, the heat shields need coating to be black again. Suggestions there may be needed if I stay with these.

I guess it all depends on what else you are thinking about doing. Most Dyno's show that the Victory Shotguns were poor pipes from a performance perspective. If you like the sound, then maybe you don't want to mess with it?

There are some better options for performance and a couple to consider would be the Bassani 2-1 (either long or short) and the RPW Thor. You will be spending some money since both require different head pipes, but I would imagine you would get somewhere in the 7-10HP range in improvement over what you currently have (mostly because the shotguns actually lose power from stock).

Again, it really depends on everything else you are doing, or if it's just a pipe change. FWIW, both of those pipes can be had in black.

I personally think the Bassani's look and sound great, and they make great power.

Do they have have the O2 bung for the sensor's?
That might be something to consider depending on year of bike (if it has O2's) and/or if you are going to tune through the box. (which I recommend)

The Vic Drag Pipes work better than the Shotguns, you would have to find a used set.

Another option may be to have a balance tube added to your Shotguns.

Interested. Before I posted this I looked for bassani and didn't do well. Bonus points if they are black but I can deal either way.

Joe...different head pipes? My shotguns are a full system. Thought most steel frame exhaust was. And for upwards of 10hp I might switch, that's a decent percentage.

Balance tube...interesting but not in the range of my skill to do properly.

The Bassani and RPW requires their own head pipes since they need a collector to connect to the single muffler. You could just get the RPW or Bassani muffler, but you would have to fabricate the transition to the muffler from your existing head pipes.

Both of those systems come with head pipes, so it's not a big deal.

The RPW - https://rpwusa.net/product/hammer-thor/ I believe Schamby has this pipe on his Kingpin

The Bassani - http://www.bassanipipes.com/chromero...r-6h22r-1.aspx I have this pipe on my KP and I think Moe has it on his Hammer and HBall
