Here are the Yamaha handlebar riser cap bolt covers (p/n 90338-08163) as suggested by Byten2it on the VMC board (the bike pictured is also his)

How do you tighten those?

If they are like the ones that I have seen, There is a piece that you put under the bolt head and then the cover just snaps onto that.

Here's the joy...they are just simple plastic caps that press in (without much effort) into the existing bolt heads (removal should be easy with a thin object).
Look good, don't they?

I've been trying to figure it out, exactly. I think the total bill for 4 of them came up to $8.25 or so (total)...I'm sure that they could be ordered online (Competition Accessories, for example, that carries OEM parts) for less.

Not too bad a price but then it's for 4 plastic caps that looked chromed. Small compared to what else we buy for these machines I guess.

You can buy caps like that at Mudspringers for less than 50 cents apiece. Theirs are metal , and snap into the head of the allen screw.

I don't want to sound negative, but I can think of one bonus regarding the plastic inserts....I'm never going to have to worry about rust blossoms. Sometimes it is possible to be too-bargain minded (as I've seen on my Dad's bike, where he has a mixture of "quality" and "less quality" accessories. The "less quality" items found their way to rusting when we had our bikes in Georgia and North Carolina.
