Anyone done a speaker upgrade on their XC? Looking at possibly Kicker ps5250's any feedback?

Those are the speakers I put in my XC last winter. They sound better. Not louder, just better.

If you put them in your trunk, you will have to modify the trunk box itself to accommodate the larger magnet. It's just a matter of cutting away some of the trunk panel itself to make room. I then found a piece of plastic, I think it was a dash panel from a Polaris Ranger, and modified it to cover the new hole with some epoxy. Took about an hour to do the mod.

Any ideas for getting louder and better?

There are quite a few folks that have added a power amp to the mix and a few different brands have been used. If you check theVMC.com under the XC/XR section, there are a few threads on how-to, etc.

I did find that if you have the HID kit installed, it eliminates the most logical place to install the amp. I still haven't figured out if there is another good spot to get one shoehorned inside the fairing, but I have it apart right now and am re-visiting it.

With the Kicker speakers, it is plenty loud for me, even wearing a helmet and at 80MPH speeds with good sound. That doesn't mean it can't get better though...

And if you are thinking about the Kicker marine speakers, there really isn't a need to spend the extra bucks. The only difference is a corrosion resistant basket that holds up to salt spray (think boating). The speaker cone is still water proof on the cheaper version.

Appreciated all the input. Did some checking, Polk audio also has speakers that should fit. Just weighing all options, but sounds like an amp should be included.
