okay I have carpal tunnel syndrome, some of you saw me beating my wrists around at the flood run. padded gloves helped some,3 months off of work helped some .but as soon as I went back IT came back, I could go about 10 miles and my hands went numb anyhow to make a long story short ,I tried different bars the custom bend that warners has,I rode fifty miles the other night and no tingling at all no numbness and no gloves also had a throttle lock and lightbar put on oh well here's to hoping it stays this way, also I see gel padded gloves has anybody tried these? if so let me know will ya? thanks:)

Hey Chris, I've tried some of the gel no finger gloves. Don't know if they really made much difference, but then again, I don't have carpal tunnel.

But, I too have switched bars, going with the custom bend. I have a TC, and find the new bars put my wrist at a more comfortable bend. Don't have many miles on them yet, but already can tell they'll work out better for me.

Chris, I have it too, but not terribly bad(yet). I put a throttle rocker on and that helped...along with Kuryakyn ISO grips. Now I mainly just get the tingly-numby in my ring and little fingers.

:gunrev: my wife had the surgery, carpel tunnel, and hasn't had a problem since so if you can swing it go for the surgery, she did it after YEARS of trying all that other crap.good luck.

I've had carpal tunnel in both wrists for quite a few years. I figure it came from playing guitar. My fingers, bird down to the pinky, go numb while riding, but I found a way to lessen the problem. It came from something Roadkill once said that was unrelated to the carpal tunnel issue.
I wrote on the old Yahoo site that I was experiencing the dreaded wobble in corners. First reply was to check my tire pressure, the second reply came from RK. He suggested that I let up on the death grip I had on the bars which can also cause the wobble. How he knew that I was unconsciously gripping the bars with a wrestlers hold, I'll never know. The truth of the matter is that I was unaware how hard I was actually squeezing the grips. As soon as I started resting my hands on top of the bar and not reverting to my old hold, the numbness was dramatically decreased in my fingers.
Next time out cruising, evaluate your handlebar holding style.

Does the special bend bar turn more in towards the rider? I have found that after about 2-3 hours of riding, my shoulders get a little tight. I'm wondering if it's my wrist placement???

I had the same deal from working the computer all day and the ergonomic, split in the middle keyboard solved that...

whoa! okay where do I start, the bars are bent more towards the rider and back a bit , more relaxed feel to me and as far as the death grip you may be right when I carry my bride I tend to be more tense not because it's her but because it's somebody on the back. and I too have the throttle rocker and it helps if you remember to use it (L) but now I also added the cruise control that helps also, and I have found padded gloves do help a lot, and as for the surgery I was suppose to have it done last january, but I (stone cold sober) fell out of the hot tub and ended up with a compound fracture in my left wrist, don't ask how , but picture a baby beluga laying on frozen concrete at 10 degree's trying to figure out what broke while butt is freezing to concrete(L) so it will have to wait till next winter! enuff said....
