I have decided to ride over to Eau Claire tommorrow to look at a 1975 Norton that a fellow has for sale. I have to work in the morning and plan on leaving at noon.
Does anyone have any advice on a good route there and back?
I was thinking of heading south on Wisc 35 to Maiden Rock, then meandering my way in a NE direction towards Eau Claire. After taking a test ride on the Norton and discussing price I thoughgt that I might head back to MN by a different route, maybe even returning via Nelson and the south and west sides on Lk Pepin.

Are there interesting roads if I return from Eau Claire on roads that are on the north side of I 94 or is it nicer on the south side?

If anyone want's to rendevous in St Paul somewhere at Noon and ride part way (or all the way), that would be nice.

Anyways, any suggested routes? I have all afternoon and early evening.

After 7:00 AM Saturday morning I won't have computer access, but you can call me on my cell phone at (612) 386-5303

No, I don't know Nortons very well. I have always liked them though. There is a good Norton club here in town, The Twin Cities Norton Owners Club I think it is called. They meet the 3rd Thursday of every month in the evening at a new biker friendly coffee shop in NE MPLS on Central Ave about 1/2 block south of 18th NE. It is called Diamonds. There are also always a few Nortons at the 1st Thursday of the month at Dulono's Pizza at W. Lake St and Garfield Ave in So MPLS. Any of those guys can tell you of good mechanics here in town to contact. Red Line Cycles (or Red Line something or other) is a name that sticks in my mind. There is a place in Iowa called Baxter Cycles where you can get lots of parts and advice. Try www.baxtercycle.com/~bikes/ I'm sure you can get a shop manual from them and that's a good start.
