Just picked up a set of '09 Victory Performance Hammer Shotgun pipes that I may try on the '05 Hammer that currently has Stage 1 with Drag pipes.
The differences I know so far:
1. 2008 and onward bikes have closed loop injection, mapping slightly different
2. 2008 and onward pipes have sensor bosses in the pipes
I've been told the pipes will fit, the current mapping should be close and the only thing I need to do is plug the sensor holes.
Anyone else been through a similar swap? Any opinion about the sound differences between Drag and Shotgun?

Map is different. Plugs from early Vic rear headpipe will fit in the sensor holes. Sensor holes are 18mmx1.0mm thread

Thanks Lee, Mies said the map was different but thought it would be close. They said there wasn't a map for this config. Your thoughts on how far off?

Lee, I checked most of the online fiche years but can't locate that rear headpipe plug. Happen to have a year and model? Thanks

OK, called Mies and they found them, part # 7518295 and they are 18M X 1.5 pitch. I saw that in the fiche but it didn't look right and Polaris doesn't give thread specs often enough, including now.
$12 each, ouch! But 8 of them on the shelf, thank you Mies once again for stocking. Gotta say, they almost always have Vic and Polaris sled parts in stock (even the weird ones I call on). MotoPrimo will get there as far as stocking I hope. Our sled and cycle seasons are short and it's nice to be able to get parts fast. Credit where credit is due.

I know the mapping is different between drags and shotguns. But the map for the 100 cu in shotguns should work. How different the maps are I cannot say. The pipes should be basically the same with the exception of the O2 sensor bungs. The plugs (bolt- Polaris called it) were on 100 cu in stock head pipes to put in a sensor for TPS setting.

Thanks Lee, that eases the pain (at least for now)

The 2 original pipes I wanted are only for newer models, and BOTH dealers I went to said that they cannot be used on my 07.
Dealers were Mies and Diggers.

Huh. Well, I don't see why not but then I'm not Einstein on the subject. Keep posted, I'll post how it goes when I make the swap. The pipe diameter should be the same as well as the mounts. The sensor holes are the only obvious difference unless the pipe length or baffles are slightly different. Mies was very helpful.
Anybody have a map for Shotgun pipes on a 100 ci?

Measure the center distance of the bolt holes on the flanges, as they may differ. Diameter of the center flange should be the same.

Exhaust studs are 80mm center-center, center of flange holes on both sets of pipes are also 80mm so that's not the difference.

I would eliminate the guesswork by simply calling a dealer and asking them...
Then perhaps you can prove them wrong, but at least you'll know what challenge to be on the lookout for.

Been there, done that, received conflicting info, that's why this post is up. The dealers told you it couldn't be done but told me it could. I'd love to believe Vic dealers can do what my doctor and Barak O'Bama can't, namely guaranty how to fix things correctly every time.
The proof will be in pulling the Drag pipes when I get the sensor plugs and mapping for the Shotguns. At some point when I can't get a clear answer I choose to believe what I can see and make work myself, that's where I'm at.
Having said that, the insight this post brings is very helpful and appreciated. What I wouldn't have given in the '60s, '70s and 80's to have the Internet to Google or Post issues on. Every scrap of info is less time wasted. If this works I'll be glad to provide the info, part numbers and insight it took to make it happen.
Besides, who out there is content to leave their ride alone? This is all therapy I don't have to submit to my insurance company.
