My wife and I would like to hook up with the ride in the iron range area somewhere and continue on to Big Falls. Sounds like a blast! we are not too far from there. Is the run gonna go through Effie again? OBTW-- we are getting serious snow right now at least 4" on the ground and still coming down, could possibly turn into 12" before morning.

I'm not sure yet as to whether or not I'll be available, but I would like to attend. I should be in town, but there is a matter of high school graduation parties that I should attend...

I'm on, not sure if Phil will be able to make it or not. Went to pick up my new bike today, deceided to wait as it was snowing out:(
It just looked to pretty to get dirty the first ride:rolleyes:
This year I'll follow Sid:crazy:

Bobbi and I would like to make it this year since we missed last years ride.
There are so many variables flying around with us (but not as us as a couple, thank you) that we'll have to confirm as the time gets closer.
It would be fun to do 38...just to see Sparky's face......

I have heard of some interest from Victory riders in our area in the Caterpillar run. I don't know for sure but they have been asking me for details. I have posted the flyer for TCVR. I hope they log in and post their intentions. I think they would like to meet in Grand Rapids or Deer River and ride north. I think they would ride full circle and ride home, but I will leave that up to them. I plan to camp at the cabin and get to know the rest of the crew.

OK Lee
I know I told you that I wanted to make this run so here is the scoop. My Dad and I have planned a fishing trip to Canada for the last twenty some years but never have been able to go, so this year it is and we are leaving on June 10th and returning on the 18th, this is a trip that I have wanted to make for a long time so to Canada I go.
I hope you have a good turnout and a safe ride. I will see you this weekend on the Spirit Lake ride:( :)

We've got a couple of logistical decisions to make that weekend.
Saturday night Ross William Perry is playing at Richies Marcell Inn. I've been invited to come up and play with him for a few tunes. It's really tempting to be there and bend a few strings around. I've never seen him and he's never seen me, but it's been arranged for us to meet and jam onstage.
So I've got some thinking to do on this. We'll probably do the run but come back to Bigfork for the evening.
decisions, decisions!!

How far is big Fork from Big Falls. We always enjoy a good band.

06-09-2003, 07:05 PM
It is about 50 miles Sid. I had that thought also. Some of the group may want to go down and listen.
Do you know if Jeff is planning on going with this year?
Lee
Sparky_Bill
06-09-2003, 07:39 PM
Little change in our head count. I will be going but Blaze and Heidi will not be making it. I have only been able to ride once this year. This one is a sure go. I have been working on the house for 3 weeks straight to be able to have some time off this sumeer to ride. Now to get the house on the market and sold so I can make up the money I have lost in wages for 3 weeks now.
In addition, my computer crashed and I have not had time to rebuild the system yet, so have not been getting you e-mail either.
jimbob92c
06-09-2003, 08:51 PM
The mileage is correct. It's about 35 miles from Big Falls to Effie, then 7 more to Bigfork and 11 from Bigfork to Marcell.
The rotten part is driving back. That's all low land and trees close to the road. The potential for deer to be present is pretty high.
I'm not sure at this point what I'm going to do. I always like the chance to play, but always hated waiting around until the moment comes. If folks feel cool about heading down that would be great, but I'm not sure if waiting to play 2 or 3 songs would be worth all the time and fellowship to had as a group in BigFalls.
We may just botch it and camp out at Lee's. Can I bring a guitar up and sing campfire songs as Sparky yodels along?

Looks like I will be going. Got the time off of work. If I can figure a way to strap the guitar to the bike and keep it dry if it rains there just maybe a duet around the campfire. \
Maybe the south of the river riders can meet up somewhere on Sat. Morning????? Any ideas. Maybe Perkins (restaurant, not my place) on Cedar and county 42...;)

I know - I know.. The man with a thousand excuses.... Well, that's the way it would seem...
I have TWO High School Graduations to go to... There just would be no way for me to go and still have a home to come back to if I went on the ride... Family is pretty important stuff. I just wish their timing was a tad better!!!!! :(
The Warden and I are still anxiously looking forward to some rides with y'all.. Don't give up on us yet!

I'm checking tonight to make sure that Deer Lake Charlies is open for the season. Charlie is sometimes "flexible" in his season opener. I'll report back.
As far as Marcell goes, we may skip it. We're thinking of checking up our house after the ride back from Deer Lake ( it's been three weeks since we've been home) and then join up later in Big Falls. This way I could bring up a couple of guitars ( and a kazoo for Bill) which would solve Perks logistics problem of packing one on his bike:)
Hmmm, some props too maybe???
Jim

Just got off the phone, Deer Lake Charlies is open for business.
And we have decided that we'll head home after the DLC visit and meet up with y'all in Big Falls...unless....
...We're going to bring both the bike and car home, so we need to do a drop off at the ranch so Bobbi can climb aboard the Vic.
Would anyone mind a pit stop at our place where everyone could stretch their legs, use the can, have a beverage of their choice ( on us) and then push on to Deer Lake, or scrub it and head north to Big Falls??
Not trying to make life difficult ( although I seem to have a nack for it), but just throwing this out.....
Our place is 4 miles from Bigfork ( where hwy. 38 intersects).

Sound like a good idea. Steve and I will meet you there. Any others? Figure an hours ride to Elk River so have to leave Perkins with that much time.
Now I wish Heidi was coming more than ever. Now there is a gal who can sing. Pick in her youth to sing the anthem at the San Diego University. What a gal, but I have to ride alone. You do not want me to sing.

What a super weekend! The weather was perfect. Plenty of great roads. Plenty of old friends and lots of new ones. If it's been said once, it's been said a thousand times, Vic riders are the greatest.
Lee, you outdid yourself this time. What a class act. He even had lunch catered in by A.H. & Co.:p Thanks Walt for your hospitality. The sturgeon chuck chili (dolphin free) was the best.
Looking forward to the next ride. Maybe something come fall? Until then it's 'CA here I come'.

p.s. Going to work tomorrow is going to be tough. Maybe the sneakers and a set of highway pegs on my chair will help.

It was great seeing everybody, but wish we had more time to visit. We had WAY too many irons in the fire for the time allotted this past weekend.
It's a lesson to me...pick one activity and stick with it!! As a result we were rushing from one activity to the other and couldn't really do justice to any of them. (again, insert violin music).
Wayne, good meeting you. We need to sit down and B.S. a bit about music.

We are calling this the "Merry Mary Event." A friend of ours is having a milestone birthday and it's a darn good excuse to have a party. If the ride isn't long enough, just come a little late and get the ride in before the party. You really don't have to bring anything (except your wife). We'll have snacks and beverages. Hope to see you on Friday.
