Here are a couple of high points about the trip...

The first is a street sign in Quebec.
Second is to commemorate the Metric Iron Butt we rode from Kanata, ONT., to Fredericton, NB
The third is out our hotel in Port Hawkesbury, NS. This is the entrance to the Cabot Trail.
The fourth is a Dam/Power plant in NH
The fifth is Bruce introducing himself to the Vermont PD! (wasn't a big deal, we misinterpreted the helmet law.

A few more...

1. A great road we found in Vermont
2. A bridge crossing a lake in Maine
3. Crossing Lk. Champlain in NY
4. Lake Tupper in the Adirondacks
5. Downtown Lake Placid. Hard to imagine a town that small hosted the Olympics. Twice.

Honestly Ted, I don't remember. Could very well be. There were a lot of bikers on that road and it seemed to be very popular.

Joe -

You are seeing the best of the best. i only took a total of 41 pics. Combination of bad weather and lots of roads and scenery that were great, but no safe spots to stop and take pics.

Can't tell from the pic, but how many squads showed up after Bruce got off his bike? And to think some people call me "intimidating".:BigLaugh:

Okay what was the Bruce story. Did they just want to check out the Vision? Did they come down and talk to you?

Ted - It was motorcyclists...And that does look like the same road.

So the story -

We were pretty diligent abut tracking what states had helmet laws and the Vermont law states "reflective surfaces required on both sides." Our incorrect assumption was that it meant on the bikes. It really means on the helmets and there was no mention of helmets being required.

So, the day before when we rode in to Vermont, it was cold, damp and windy so we both had the buckets on - no problems. The next morning it was a little on the cool side so I wore mine, but Bruce went without since we were about to cross to NY where it is required. This officer was sitting at an intersection, flashed his lights, pointed at Bruce and had him pull over. Ran his license, saw he was not wanted anywhere in this country:action35: and told him to put the bucket on and sent him on his way - after telling us what roads to ride on after crossing the lake...

No real drama, other than holding us up or a few minutes. It actually meant we didn't have to wait at all for the ferry!

If Minnesota says you can not have studded tires but Wisconsin allows them, a car coming from Hudson to MOA to shop could be stopped and fined and told to take the tires off????

...saw he [Bruce] was not wanted anywhere in this country... Somehow I'm thinking Brucey is pretty popular... just not so much with the legal system.

Ya, those East coast laws can be pretty tricky.

The AMA has a great state-by-state guide online:

You guys have had some GREAT trips in the past, so I suppose eventually you're bound to run into sucky weather. Be glad you weren't riding in Farmington last week! :D So, where ya going Next Year?
