Just saw on the ABATE Minnesota site that the flood run will be held in the Fargo and Moorhead area this year along the Red river. Shoot! I always liked the excuse to ride in the friggin cold, and see alot of other crazy's too:rolleyes: . How long does it take to get to Fargo from here?

I had a friend that used to ride from Hastings to Fargo on an early 60's vintage Ducati. I think it was a 200cc. Claimed he could do it in about 5 1/2 hours.

What?? I can't believe it's the same Flood Run. This one has been around for years, always the same route as far as I know.

Steve, from Buffalo it takes about 3 hours on the freeway at 75 mph to get to moorhead/fargo. I find it hard to believe the flood run would be switched up there. That would not be nearly as pretty a drive as it is down here! No offense to you fargo people.

Check out a little history on "The Flood Run". http://www.motorbyte.com/mmm/pages/misc/floodrun5_99.htm
The flood run in Fargo is NOT the flood run you have been on in the past.
Here is another take on Our Flood Run!!!
**********************************
Flood Run
Posted Monday, April 22, 2002
Winona County Sheriff Dave Brand says this weekend's annual flood run produced no incidents or problems. The annual so-called flood run takes place each April and involves motorcycle enthusiasts who travel down highway 61 from the Twin Cities area and meet in Winona and some of the surrounding communities.
The event commemorates the 1965 flood in Winona when a call was made for volunteers to help fight the highwaters of the Mississippi River.
Many of the volunteers are said to have responded by traveling on their motorcycles to come to the aid of Winona.
Brand said he had all available sheriff's deputies on patrol on Saturday along with officers from Houston and Wabasha County and the Wabasha K-9 unit. The Minnesota State Patrol also assisted. He said no incidents were reported and this year's flood run was a quiet one.
*********************************************
Spring Flood Run, Motorcycle Event, Stockholm, WI. For more information call 800-247-7657. April 19. 2003
*********************************************
In any event, the Event will be the third Saturday of April. Can run further down the Missisippi than Nelson on the Wisconsin side as well. Might try that this year for a change.

Boy, she's snowing hot (cold?) and heavy downtown.
We'd like to do the flood run this year also. I sure like riding the valley (only rode it once, but want to go back).

Flood run is both THIS coming weekend, and the following. There was some confusion on how to handle it when it falls on Easter weekend, and different stops along the way couldn't agree. I'll try and hit both if the weather is nice.

Dean said he will be leading out of his place at 10 am take off, weather permitting. If its raining, might not be going. Havn't heard how the weather is suppose to be this weekend. I plan on going this weekend if possible (weather). Can't go next weekend as I have a wedding to go to.

Sounds like miserable weather shaping up for this w/e...89 degrees one day and rain/snow a few days later. Has anyone EVER ridden a spring flood run where the weather's been good? Almost seems cursed.

I'm thinking that if the weather is like they are forecasting that I will go the 26th instead. My guess is that since there is confusion over the date anyway, most people will hold off until the next weekend.

Thanks Sid for joining me today. We were the smallest group to ever leave Warners for the flood run, and we had a great ride, didn't get wet until the last 30 miles coming home, saw lots of bikes, had some great cheese and ice cream cones and some great roads.
Hmm I wonder where all those other harden victory riders were? Too bad they missed a great ride.

Well we can say the TCVRs have never missed a flood run scince its inception. Great to meet your buddies Pat. We met up with them again in Zumbro Falls as we were leaving. 60 was a good ride today kinda ominous with the overcast weather. I kept waiting to see the hounds of the Baskervill jump out into the road. I got wet also Jim. I turned on to 694 which is about 12 miles from home and it started raining. Why couldn't it wait 15 more minutes.
Good ride anyway see you all next Saturday.

Can't forget to stop in Diamond Bluff. Free Pork sandwiches best stop for food next to Nelson cheese factory. This is the first stop after Prescott.
I think Dean is leading a group out of his shop this Saturday. Jim and I stopped last Sat. and set a record for the smallest group to leave Deans for a flood run. Two.
The riding should be great this week end. See you all somewhere.
Doug G. I think you and Karen should come along this Saturday. Steve Irwin are you up for a ride.
Tom Z lets get together.
Dan are you able to get out.
Kit where are you. Now that we met the significant other are you ever going to ride again.
Amy and Jim time to get the V's out and on the road.
Dean can you post up your plans for Sat. 4-26-03 unless of tcourse they are personal and you don't want to share with all of us.

I'm in for this Saturday! I have something I need to show off!
Sorry Sid, I only get out to go to work lately. It's been 6 days a week, 50-60+ hours, then the significant other demands I spend some time with her to boot (the nerve). This Saturday I'm makin' a break, but have plans to do the brewpub crawl with my little brother. Hopefully the work thing will lighten up after the first week of June when we have a corporate led audit to submit to. If we pass, they leave us alone for 3-5 years. If not they scrutinize annually or more often. So the pressure is on to pass the first time. This is one of the main reasons I haven't committed to the catapillar run as yet. Then my daughter graduates from U of M this spring so half of May is booked too. I do plan to hook up again with the group before the snow flies again (next fall not this spring). Wish me luck and hope to see Sid and all real soon.

Steve is there something you want to tell me about why we have to be at Warners by 9. I talked to Isacs wife he is back in town tonight so maybe he will hook up with us.
The Super America we are talking about is the one off Weaver Lake road exit not Cty road 30. Basically the next exit by Applebees. Go left across 94 and look right.

Today is the big day and nobody is talking. Seems like we talk more about riding when we can't ride. Not that that is a bad thing but I like riding and also sharing that excitment with others. I guess maybe I am becoming a riding nerd. Oh well got to be something in my old age. I am up at 5:00 and ready to go got to wash the windsheild and the bike is also ready. Isac can't make it today he is working. He says hi to all.

Hey Guys,
Sorry I was unable to make this run, even with the second chance weekend and all. Sounds like it was classic.
I need to get the tranny replaced ASAP in my SC and new tires to boot before I take her out on another long run anyway.
Before that I need to find the money to do the first thing. Money is a bit hard to manage these days since the wife decided to move out and stick me with ALL the expenses. :(
Work has been  and I could use the slap of the wind in my face and the feel of the road under my weels, but I have obligations and balding tires. (Not to mention my head)
Today is shapping up to be a nice one and after I fix a plumming problem in my kitchen I may have time for a short hop.

I agree it was a very good day for a bike run. did not run with the warner group but ran with some Harley friends. We were at the No Name bar when a big group of vics came through including a black /silver frame silver motor billet wheels Vegas. Very cool ! Turned some Harley dudes heads. Also saw a blue /silver motor silver frame in Nelson . Also turned some heads. It's fun to have something different than every one else. I had a great time this weekend. Special thanks to the fella's for the push. It was nice to finally put some faces to the names, although I can't/will not be able to recall them all.
#434 did make it home, although a few more miles and it would not have. As I open the garage door it really started to run erratically as it was only charging at 9.2 volts. This will be the 5th regulator that has gone into my bike. Although, this one did last a whole year, maybe a bit better.
Swiff, I am going to have to get some skins on my bike as you have on yours. (although I have to take it easy on a hard bender, or my lowered scooter will drag) I have a few friends that will dig into a corner such as you do, although they have drag plates in their knees, toes and heels and they ride CBR's, YZF's and GXSR's, NOT a V92C.
Thanks again for the good weekend.
now I have to get on the horn and get me a decent regulator....
