Seems the rear brake pads are good for only about 7k miles or so, even with riding conservatively as I do.. I read on another site where some guys recommended putting the TC pads on their Vegas. Anyone have any experience with this, or have any other suggestions as to other replacement parts to get more mileage on the rear pads?

I have also heard that the TC pads work well. I believe JoeGopher used them on his Kingpin. I use the Lyndall pads on my Kngpin with good results.

Never did the TC pads, but +1 on the LRB pads, easily double to quadruple the mileage. Gold or Z, depends on the insect noise you prefer. ;)

rick - is there a big difference between the two lyndall pads? not sure what the noise difference is? is it a big deal?
Put the z-pads on the rear of my Jackpot at ~ 5K miles. I now have 34K on the bike, and they still show plenty of wear left on them.

I have used the TC pads for my KP for the last three brake changes.
Was getting about 15K per set. On the last set, I changed them at 13K (before the trip) and they still had about 1/2 life left.
They are cheaper than the stock pads, too

Have a set of the Z + waiting for warmer weather. Just over 5k on the originals & they look pretty thin. Insect noise you say? will some blue goop keep them quiet?
