Hello, all.

I received the information regarding how much it will cost to do the embroidery, should we wish to do it.

The cost will be a one-time design fee (done "out of house" from the company where we do all our embroidery business at my school) of $425.00 for the back (large) and front (small) Victory logos.

I don't think I can "front" that kind of money at this time (although the tax return IS coming).

Is there enough interest in having embroidered material (also means a full-color "patch" option)? Don't forget, there will also be a fee for actually embroidering the logo on any piece of material. I have a desire to buy an all-black "letter jacket" (wool sleeves and body, not leather sleeves) and have the TCVR logo placed on front and back. I think that would look good.

The other concern is: what will Victory HQ say about this? An embroidered logo may send their legal representatives out to get me (they already went after Thumper...)

Let me know what you think. I do know that if we go ahead with this logo, it will look GREAT.

Chris, depending on the cost(I know it will be high due to a first run) I would most definitely be interested in some patches. If the patches would be of the TCVR logo on the homepage, I don't know why Polaris would have a problem with it(although they do get very possesive:rolleyes: ). I think it's pretty cool of you to take the time to line up this kind of stuff! Many Kudos to you:)

Chris, Why not keep it simple so as to keep the cost down. Just have some embroidery done on the front and keep the victory logo out of it. I think in the long run it would be better to keep Polaris off your back. As far as the money gose, why not ask for money up front?

That's a good question, Obe. Back some time ago, there was a lot of discussion about which logo the TCVR riders would use, and the logo that was "settled" on was the logo that appears at the top of the page. I didn't miss your previous post, but knowing where this group has come from, I didn't want (and still don't want) to challenge the few "formalized" pieces that we have. I'm not, repeat, not being cruel as I make this next suggestion...any embroiderer can tool up embroidery that says "TCVR" in about 30 seconds. If you'd like that option, most places will even embroider clothing you bring in for just a few dollars. Lettering is all pre-designed at every embroiderer, so there is not a set-up fee, only apparel and sewing costs (about $3.00 on something like that)
I think in the long run it would be better to keep Polaris off your back.
I agree. The Victory folks at the International Motorcycle Show didn't seem bothered by a screened logo. But screened logos, for the most part (until it gets to running several colors) are rather inexpensive. We do have the first screen ready to use again at any time. We do not have a small screen. My only concern is that Victory may be bothered by having embroidery "tooled" up, even though the amount of embroidered apparel from Victory seems to decrease every year.
As far as the money goes, why not ask for money up front?
When an order is placed, I do ask for money up front. This is a special case, which represents a significant investment into a logo. If we had dues, dues could cover this cost (as well as contribute to the hosting efforts of Steve Stoddard). However, TCVR isn't a "club," it's a community without official leadership (I think most of us probably look to Sparky_Bill as the unofficial leader as he moderates this site) and without structure, and it was the collective wish to leave it that way.

I don't want to solicit contributions until I am sure that enough of us are on board. There are 80 members here (if memory serves) and $6 each would get us the logos. That's a logo without the cost of embroidery. We broke even on the last batch of shirts, which also included a "screen fee." A future run would have been sold at the same price as the first batch, and the "screen fee" (as such) would have gone into the "embroidery account."

So, I'm soliciting comments and opinions. I really do thank you for "chiming in" on this topic.

My two cents would be to sell shirts to get up an "embroidery account" sounds like there are a few folks out there who did not buy the first time who would like some now that they saw how they look. Probably more when we all start riding together in the spring wearing them.

I agree with Sparky then, if after selling the shirts, there is still a shortage, charge what is needed to make up the differance. And Polaris really can't do anything since the design has enough minor differances to it there is no infringement(sp?).

Just my little two cents.

this might be a little off subject, but wouldn't it be pretty cool if all the regions or local area's could come up with patchs. then we could do like law enforcement doe's,and trade them around. you would have a vest/jacket with others patches to display. if and when you guy's come up with them. let me know i would like to get a couple. even though this is not my area i would like to display the twin citys vic riders patch.

I love the TCVR logo and will buy another shirt or patch.
