Hey all,
I have an issue - not bike related.
My wireless internet connection works fine everywhere, except the library.
At the library, it will send packets, but not receive any, thus, I can't use the internet. After speaking to their I/T folks, they say it is an issue on my side, and that the network is running fine. I have tried the firewall, uninstalling and reinstalling the network card, unchecking all the boxes in the configurator, rechecking etc...
What gets me is, the computer works fine everywhere else there is a wireless connection, just not the library.
Any Ideas? - Thanks Techies!

I should add that the computer connects to the network with a strong signal. I also "pinged" and that seemed fined too. (Sent 4, received 4, no issues)
I read this:
"Try WinsockFix : www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=257 . Sometimes spyware removal tools can detect some necessary winsock files as spyware, and most users don't know the difference"
But, I don't want to run it as I don't know what it is or what it can do...
The IP address I get is
169.254.101.186
and the subnet mask (what ever the hell that is) is:
255.255.00
Thanks again!

John I heard that they (the libraries) have firewalls set up to stop registered predators, could THAT be your problem? A thought since it's only at the libraries. :Jester:

Is your computer red too?
Since your already in contact with the Lib IT people. I'd ask them what brand and model their wireless router is. Then find out what brand model your wireless card is. Search Google for "netgear xxx won't talk to linksys xxx" or what ever and see what you find. Chances are if your struggling, some real techie already fought it and hopefully posted a solution. There was day when I was more "up" on that junk, but these days I like the outside better.
Does it have to be the Library? Panera Bread, Caribou, and even Sun Moon have free Wifi last I was there. Probably cost you a cup of coffee or an egg roll though. I cruise by the Library with the work laptop strapped to the back of the bike twice a day, I could probably stop by and see if it will talk, but I doubt I would learn anything that would help you.
