Tuba, I'm still a little unclear about the features of the JC Whitney spotlights. I just ordered a set anyway though, since I don't like the OEM spots.
Are the spots mounted on swivels so you can adjust the beam angle, or are they rigid? If they're rigid, is the beam angle better than the Victory spots (which can only point up into the trees)? Are the bulbs included with the kit, or just the housing?

1) They are rigid...I used the bases from the Victory spots instead...I liked the quality of them a bit better.

2) I never had that problem. The Victory spots always worked for me, and these are just as good.

3) No, no bulbs, but they will certainly use the Victory bulbs that you already have. You could also go to H-D and pick up the conversion kit that allows you to use a car lamp in place of the sealed beam. The housing on the JC Whitney beams is much deeper (it still works fine) than the Victory lamps.

Forgive my obtuseness......so with the JC housings and the Victory bases, they swivel?

Well, they swivel left or right, not up or down. The spotlight is connected to a threaded bolt, which runs through the Victory (I think it's actually made by Cobra) riser. You can then aim the spot, although I leave them dead center. I don't know how you could actually aim the beam down, unless you bent the spotlight on its threaded bolt, or if the spotlight bar itself had holes drilled at a bit of an angle.
I can see that I should have taken pictures of that part of the process, but I'm not going out to take apart the lights at this time (too cold, and the bike's in the corner, plugged in and covered).

I think Randy (quickvic) had some from HD that swiveled. Not sure of the cost.
Of coarse, I'm not quite sure it was Randy come to think of it. Hey quickvic, you around?

Yep,
I got some Custom Chrome spots from HD that are adjustable. I used the nicer looking base for the Victory spots which greatly restricts the adjustment range. But it is still enough to focus on the road which is something I never accomplished in the 3 years I ran with the Vic spots. During this time 2 sets of the flimsy Vic spots fell apart. The CC's seem to be much better quality. I paid $37 each ($74 pair) including housing and bulb.
