For those leaving from Warners...pulling out at 8 am, meet up with riders in Mankato then on to Jackson to meet up with the rest. OH man I'm getting pumped! What is it about riding with a group of Vic's that gets a guys blood pumping?

I have been considering going on the Birthday Bash Ride to the point where I've even registered at the Victory_usa web site. My thinking at this point is that I would like to go, but I'm not sure I would spend the night. It's only about a 200 mile one way jaunt and I don't think it would be a great hardship to roll back into town that same evening. I would probably leave Spirit Lake no later than 6-6:30 pm to head back. My question is this: Are there any other Vic riders who have been considering making the trip, but need to be back before Sunday? I would be more than happy to be part of a group ride back to the Twin Cities for anyone considering making it a one day afair. If not, I would still probably come back solo. If there are any takers, I'll be watching for your post.

Bill, if you think this subject warrants a new thread, maybe you could cut and paste my offering into the new thread as well. Thanks.

Whenever a member see a need for a new thread feel free to start one. I feel that if what you are going to discuss is not part of the thread you are in and it is a new thought then I would like to see any member start a new thread. If I find it would be better served as part of an existing thread I might take the liberty of merging it with that one. It goes better if I do that then start a new one for you. Since there was a birthday bash thread already I just moved this message there. Anytime someone posts in a thread that thread moves to the top of the list.

Thanks Bill. I scanned the list but somehow missed it. I'm anxious to see what develops on this thread over the next couple of weeks.

Just a week and a half away...sure hope winter ends by then! I'm curious as to how many from this site are gonna make the trip. I know we're not all leaving from the same destination, but it'll be cool if we have a strong showing.

One and one half weeks how can I stand it. Come on good weather! I think sixty five degrees would be real nice but 70 is OK. I would like to wear my jacket and vest but would rather not have long sleeve shirt and gauntlet gloves. Looking forward to the bash.

Was at Warner's today and Dean said that he may not make the Birthday Bash because of a
:gunrev: WEDDING :gun:

Had BigFoot's front tire flipped and the whole mess balanced.
Also bought the 2 year extended warranty - just in case that Tranny decides to sneeze on me!

I think that the group is leaving there at 8:00. I'll probably try to be there around 7:30. Not real sure about meeting up before that. I will head down 101 to 55 if anybody wants to meet in Elk River or Rogers, we could probably do that.

I am planning on going, have registered. (Maybe the temp will be over 45 by then). I don"t plan on staying the night either so if any one else wants to ride back that evening I will be happy to accompany you. I registered to leave from Medina but I think I will leave from Warners instead. Much closer for me. As for leaving from Spirit Lake, I doon't have a clue. Whenever is fine. I'm flexible.

To answer Lee's question I'am making the trip to spirit lake and I can't wait. Me and my wife Kristy are leaving Friday and spending the night at her grandma's house in Lake Crystal, MN. Saturday we will meet up with riders in Mankato and head to Jackson, this will be our first ride and we're both really pumped.:D

Kit
04-28-2002, 04:26 PM
In reply to perksdlx2001, both Dan and I are planning on making it a one day trip and we would welcome your company for the ride back. I'm planning on starting from Medina HQ but I don't think Dan has made a decision on a starting point yet. We should try to get together in Mankato to give ourselves a better chance of hooking up. I get the feeling there could be a very large crowd in Spirit Lake. I'll have a Solid KYSO Blue '01 Dlx with the license plate reading "KITS V". Dan has a Black SC. By the end of the week we might have a pretty good sized group for the ride home on Saturday. Man, I'm so excited to get going :bounce: , I've already overshot the ride there and the Bash and gone straight to the trip back. Somebody slap me.

This is to KIT. That sounds great. I am leaving from warners but will try to hook up with you in Mankato. There can't be too many blue deluxes out there. I have a cream and carmen deluxe and I can be recognized by the American flag flying from my luggage rack or the chrome air horns on the right side. Looking forward to meeting you and also looking forward to the ride. Only have about 700 miles on the bike this year so far(lousy April) . Think sun and 70.....later:D

Looking to see if any of you would like to join us Sunday for a ride to Red Wing from Spirit Lake. Right now Steve S and myself plan on riding over to Red Wing for the hill climb. We are going to freeway it to Lansbouro then find some winding back roads up to Red Wing though the hills of SE Minn.

Any riders care to join in the fun let us know and we will work out a place to meet and time in Spirit Lake. Any question, post'em.

Wouldn't have time to stay for the hill climb, but we fell in love with that part of Mn on our trip a couple years ago...it would make for a scenic ride home. Are you staying at the Super 8 in Spirit Lake?

Mrs Hawk, my comment about your getting stuck under low bridges with your Victory set up like it is FLEW right over your head (get it hawk, flew)...... oh well I guess I have to explain..... I saw your bike with that HUGH bag on the back and I am concerned with it not fitting under the bridges..... Kind of like a semi driver who does not know how tall his load is and gets wedged under a bridge.... get the picture..... oh too funny seeing your Victory wedged that way and you pulling clothes out of the tall bag so you can lower the load.

PS I drove by your place and the garage was open. grin

I used to live in Granite Falls, so I am going to stop in there for a couple of nights before going to the Bash. On Thursday, I am going to go to Nashwauk and have the Ness low exit exhaust and the D + D chip put on before I head down. Interested in different handle bars, but hoping to see enough different set-ups in Spirit Lake to help me decide. Will be staying at the Super 8 also. Take care. See you all this weekend.

Yes to your pool location question. Parking lot south of the Community Center Building next to the road. What time? We should be at HQ by 7:30 don't you think and I would say 20-25 minute run out there. So meet to leave by 7AM. Drop down to 42, (Co. 9) ride out to 55, then out past Medina Ballroom. Who thinks an earlier time? I am open just throwing out a number to start with.

Steve Stodard great to meet you hope we can ride together again.
Jim & Amy it was fun haveing you guys along. Thanks Jim for getting us started this morning.
Lee to bad your custom wasn't complete. Next year you can get best of show. Nice to you Pete see you again on the Catapiler.
I think I like Hilary's bommer cap best of all. Next year we should vote on most creative head gear. Lee and Doug came in a close second this year.
Jim F. Thanks for sharing the room, they really only cost ten buscks but thanks for the tip. Couldn't ask for a better roommate.
I can't wait to get on the road again but I could live with a little less wind.
Don & Linda thanks for the advice about the potato chip. It worked all the way home even in the Wind.
I managed to get on some twisties at Belle Plaine I cut up and got on 6 just over the river into Carver. Nice road.
See you all soon. Time to start a new thread for a new ride.

Jim , Amy and I got home safe and for the most part dry. Don V. is home but 1/2 hr of rain. Lee and Pete left them south of the cities and they headed west before north but do not know if they faired as well as I. Steve S is still on the road but do not think he was running into storms like we did. Man riding into the cities I could not believe how dark the skies were. Heidi got home around 6 and said it poured and blew. I got here around 7 no rain just a few sprinkles then 8 it poured again but she said not as hard as at 6.

Glad all are safe. Oh forgot talked to Jimbob from Fairmont and he is fine too. Got to get to bed then will continue the story telling tomorrow.

What A weekend!! I got home just after 10:00. Pete is still riding and should make it home by 12:00. We headed west trying to skirt the nasty black sky. and did a pretty good job of it....for a while. Actually we avoided the thunder storms but got drenched by a sunshower in...of all places...Watertown. (yeah, we detoured a bit) Pete figures that he'll have just about 1000 miles on for the weekend by the time he gets home. My odometer shows 762 miles but it is reading high like my speedo so I think it would be more like 725.

Thanks everybody for everything and good meeting the new ones and seeing friends again.

Left Duluth on Thursday in the snow and made it back today through the hail, but all in all a good trip to Spirit Lake.....900 miles and one speeding ticket. I was hoping to hang around on Sat. evening and run into some of you, but when things at the Bash kind of buttoned up at around 3:30pm and the weather not looking to promising for Sunday....I cancelled my room reservation and headed to the cities. Really got cold today the farther north you went. It would have been nice if they would have had a gathering place in the evening for everyone to get together. Victory ran great...I am really liking this bike. Harley hasn't been out of the garage yet this year.

Hi everybody,

What a great weekend! It was nice to meet all of you finally, and I really enjoyed riding with the group. I arrived in Stirling, IL at 10 PM and was too bushed to continue, so I checked into a motel. I caught the rain also, Sparky, but I used my rain suit and didn't get wet.

Guess I'll visit Douglas & Frye tomorrow, and if I'm really lucky maybe they'll rent me a dual sport so I can check out some dirt roads in NW IL. I'm typing this on web TV, and it has taken me forever to do it! It's very awkward.

See ya'll later,
Steve

Thanks for letting us know Steve and Lee too. Lee let us know if you hear from Pete getting home safe as I do not know if he can type.

NSRider and RideFree we all were talking about no one seeing either of you. Bummer. And yes they should have had a place to gather.

I STAND CORRECTED... The "ghost" can type.... he got as far and being a member.... saw his name as the new member so he had to have made it home.... great

And saw Don logged on from Fargo so know that that Linda and quickvic are home safe too.

Lee

Lee, we didn't run into any rain. It was more of an area of unseasonably high humidity.

I made it home just before midnight. I ended up with 1002 miles for the weekend. I thought if I wanted to hit the 1000 mark I would have to run a Victory lap through the neighborhood. As I pulled into town I realized I would hit the mark. I don't think the neighbors would have found it amusing anyway.

It was great seeing everyone again and meeting new friends. It was a great to see what everyone has done to their bikes from paint to accessories to modifications. One that sticks in my mind is the customized kickstand that allows for better cornering.

Caterpillar Run? Count me in.

+Yeah Jim, I think that it would be a better idea to do those kind of mods in the garage without amy riding shotgun.

What do you need a dual sport to check out those dirt roads for. My driving lesson I gave you about how to follow dirt roads with your VIC didn't stick? Hey guys I am really sorry about that mistake. I thought I had a plan, man what a bunner when I saw sand.

That's alright Bill, we'll forgive you(this time:D ). Maybe next year Victory will come out with a 92ci dirt bike! Now that would tear up those dirt roads, huh?

Dang - I wished now that I had never taken BigFoot apart this winter! :gun:

Nothing to ride but my old Honda Trail bike or my Schwinn!

Well - not to worry Bunky! I have taken the final step and sent off all the sheet-metal to have it custom painted. I should have it back in a few weeks and hopefully will be able to get ol' BigFoot back on the road for the Caterpillar run!
:bounce:

My real goal is to have him to the point where I can ride him all the way to the MITM-POTP!

I've only met a handful of you characters but I am looking forward to meeting all of you..!

I thought I was the one giving the lesson Sparky. My path was smoother!

Thanks for the pictures, there Steve. And the Steve S. I had a hard time following your smoother path via my mirror, must have been too much vibration.

Glad to see you are home safe.

Sparky Bill have you had a chance to view your video of the ride yet? I was kind of hoping you could slow it down and give us an accurate bike count leaving Jackson into Spirit Lake.

A Big Thank You :p

I hope someone from corporate reads this message. Because I'm sure all who made the ride to Spirit Lake would like them to know how much we appreciated their support. From the coffee and doughnuts served at the Medina HQ before departure, to the support vehicle and back up Vic offer, to the Mankato pay for the pump. This was an all around class act making this Victory owner feeling very much appreciated for his choice of ride. Which seems a whole lot better than another American made bike who thinks the best way to show apppreciation is to charge more than list price to get on a waiting list to get a new ride. Thanks again for the hospitality Polaris Victory!

>to the support vehicle and back up Vic offer

+I'm not sure if all aware of this: One of the Fargo riders had a problem with his bike while leaving Fargo on Friday. They ended up leaving it at the dealer there and riding down on his wife's bike. At Jackson someone mentioned this to the regional Vic rep and they pulled that back up Vic out of the trailor for the guy to ride. When asked what time they need it back by, they were told to "go ahead and ride it home, we'll get it from Fargo another time".

Now that's a class act!!!

I took some video on this trip. I ran ahead of the group at Mankato and stood on an over pass and took of the 50 some bikes from there. Caught up to the group and got into Windom to take video there but duh did not have the camera running while I watched the bikes go by through the view finder. I then took video of our stop in Jackson and then the bikes leaving the Jackson parking lot. You can count 183 bikes but there were still about 5 filling up with gas and me that were not taken there. I understand that some went straight to Spirit Lake so were not counted as well.

Small picture but you can see the action. Never tried this before that is video to web.
