Hey,
anybody heard from our friend Thumper lately? I have sent him a couple of notes over the past few months and haven't heard anything from him. I also haven't seen any posts here or the VMC. Usually he is always good for a response.
THUMPER, WHERE ARE YOU?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?
happy holidays all

Ritt, he's been EXTREMELY busy at work, getting his Dad's place ready to sell, and trying to find time to work on the Cobra kit car for his partners. Then, to top it all off, he blacked out and fractured his skull last week:( . (Right now if it wasn't for bad luck, he wouldn't have any luck at all). I'm sure as soon as things "settle" down a bit in his world, he'll be back!

Swiffer,
Give him my regards.
Also, when there is a crack, usually something leaks....hmmm, makes me wonder....

I hope they get to the cause of THIS. Unless they do it could end his biking days as well as any other driving. Wish him the very best on this.

Steve,
Tell Randy I am pulling and praying for him as well. He has given me a ton of help and information on my bike and other things as well.
Thanks,

I think he's doin' OK...has his sense of humor and that's a good sign:D . He figures at the end of the year things should slow up considerably at work, and he'll have time to get back into that "Victory frame of mind"

Hi guys..
Thank you for the prayers and well-wishes..
Things have been pretty upside-down in my world for the last few months and recently (Dec 6) I had an accident that compounded some of my problems. Typically I am not one who whines so I will just cut to the chase and let you know what happened.
On Friday evening, the 6th, I went to Fairview University hospital to visit my sister who had surgery earlier in the day. It had been a long exhausting week and it was the end of the day right after dinner. The nurses came into my sister's room to put an air-mattress pad on her bed. Since she had all the help she needed between the nurses and my wife Darlene, I stepped out of the room to give her some privacy (skimpy hospital gown and such). I remember feeling just a little light headed and maybe a touch queezy when I stood up but I didn't think much of it.
My next concious memory was about 4 hours later when I woke up in the emergency room with my Pastor praying over me - my head felt like it was on fire.
According to witnesses, I stepped out of the room and went from standing straight up to falling over stiff as a board with the left side of my face hitting the concrete floor upon impact.
I had fractured my skull in three places and split my forehead open at the left eyebrow. Over the period of the next 12 hours I went through numerous CT Scans, EKGs and untold other tests. Sometime on Saturday morning, they operated on ol' Thumper's head to install two titanium plates over two of the three fractures that radiated outward from my left eye socket. My left side sinus cavity was collapsed, there was not much they can do for that except hope it heals up. They made an incision inside my mouth right behind my lips from the center of my mouth all the way around to my wisdom teeth. Through this hole, they peeled me and installed the plates (gross - I know, but be glad you are not sitting here having experienced it).. I did not wake up from surgery until sometime Saturday night.
I was released from the hospital on Sunday at my own request since there was nothing they could really do for me and I had to be able to work on Monday. Don't get me wrong - I wasn't trying to play Tuff-Guy, My job is veru important to me and I could lose it at any time. If I am not able to be there and perform, I am replaced - simple as that. I looked pretty hideous the first week. I could not drive on Monday or Tuesday because my left eye would not open. I worked from home those days. To this point the swelling is way down and my left eye is functioning almost normally. I have frequent headaches that make it tough to even put on my Victory cap.
They ran every test imaginable on me and scanned my head/heart/neck, etc. They have not got a clue what happened to me or why.
One Doc told me that for some unknown reason some people's brains just do a hard reset (re-boot?) and they pass-out. Maybe that happened to me.
I am concerned about passing my physical for my Competition Driver's License with the SCCA. I am not even sure I should even be driving - but I have to..
So - with that said, you now know the story and I shall whine no more. I feel blessed that the good Lord has decided to leave me here a while longer.
Your friend - Randy "Thumper"
