I know the exact spot you were at near Silvertown. When Mrs Thumper, I and some friends were out there last year, part of the road washed out during a big Thunderstorm. That was one of the places where I learned great respect for the Colorado Highway Dept and how they "get 'er done" up there. After the 100+ yard washout/landslide, they had that road opened within 12 hours and re-paved within 3 days when we rode it a second time. I'll see if I can find a picture of the friendly flag-lady!

Great trip, guys. Makes we want to be out there instead of New York. MORE PICS, please!! :-D

Fun gal, the friendly Flag Lady, as we dubbed her. The pic really doesn't do justice to just how cute she is... I think her name was Linda and she lived outside of Durango. She kept Laurie and I entertained for a solid 15 minutes of laughing and road advice.

Colorado HDept ROCKS!

So what is she doing up there when she is a flag person, do not understand?

I'm with you on the Co. Highway Dept.

They REQUIRE chains on trucks in the winter and the roads are still in infinitely better shape than MnDOT...
