Does anyone have an enclosed trailer they would be willing to rent?
I did some research into buying one. I actually found a nice one on Craigs List but find it hard to justify for the 1 (maybe 2) trips a season it would get used. Even any "commercial" referrals would be helpful. Thanks - Dave

Here's the Craigs List ad if anyone is considering getting into the rental biz...

I still might buy it - Anyone else looking to share it?

I've rented enclosed trailers from General Rental in Monticello before. Not exactly close to Chanhassen, though.

MarkR lent me his trailer years ago for a road trip out to Sturgis. Worked out great! I don't know if he still has it though.

I got the blessing to move on the trailer but would still like to pursue a "joint purchase".
Anybody interested?
My only must have dates this summer are August 20th - 27th.
(so available for Sturgis...)

If you are only planning to use the trailer once or twice a year, my advice would be to buy an open trailer instead of an enclosed one. I think that once you have an open trailer, you'll be surprised how often you'll use it to haul stuff from Home Depot, or yard debris, or other large, bulky items. To me, a closed trailer is too restrictive. Plus, a closed trailer is big to store. An open trailer won't seem like a big shed in your back yard.

Buy a nice lightweight aluminum trailer, put on a wheel chock and a rock guard, and you should be in great shape to tow a bike.

Or, rent from U-Haul. Their website says that they rent motorcycle trailers. Check and see if your local store has one.

Or even their utility trailers. Just make sure that there are good, heavy duty tie down points in the trailer. Don't tie off to the side rails on their enclosed moving trailers, i've heard stories of those ripping loose and letting the bike flop around inside the trailer. use the utility trailer instead.

Also, make sure that the trailer is long enough to fit your bike. My Kingpin didn't fit on my dad's 8' long trailer because the rear fender hit the loading ramp on the trailer. I had to take off the front fence of the trailer, and then compress the front suspension of the bike to make it fit. If I had an enclosed trailer, I would have been in trouble.

So, that's my advice. It's worth what you paid for it.
