Steve you sure it is not the 20th? The 21st is a Sunday. Weather permitting I will be going. And with the weather we have been having this spring one can't be sure. Now if it was this winter I could say I could make it as the weather then was a lot nicer.
Glad to see you all are getting here and so fast. Kind of like the board....... f a s t----------------------

I bet you're right Bill. I didn't bother to look at a calendar, just found it on a site. I remember freezing last year, sure hope it's warmer this time around!

To ride or not to ride? tough question for bikers that don't ride Victroy motorcycles but as for me I will be going on the flood run and would like to hook up with whoever is going from wherever, whenever. Not that I am easy but gollee I like to ride.
Sid:rolleyes:

I wish I could join you guys on the Flood Run, etc. I've got a 10am-5pm [Opera] rehearsal on the 20th. I may take a year off of the opera company next year to pursue yet another night class during the week; which would at least allow my weekends to be open.
Has anybody heard about the Metropolitian Hitching Post's open house or is anyone planning on going to the Grand Opening of Fury Indian (South St. Paul)? April 13th 12-6; WITH demo rides.
Don't get me wrong: I love my Victory, but I also love motorcycles in general and I love to just go and look--especially when demo rides are involved. Truth be told, I also like sitting on a bike and thinking, "Hey, I like my Victory better than this."
Non-related issue: I sat on the new VTX 1800R and was surprised that it's ergonomics really matched the Victory quite well...the "biggest" "roomiest" bike Honda has made for a long time (even the new Goldwing folds you into the cabin a bit).

Are you guys going to take a show of hands again now that the weather is turning? Man what a swing. 40 plus degrees. I saw tonight that the temps dropped here from the 80 to 76 and that it was 38 degrees in Fargo. Don/Linda DQ's won't be melting, that's for sure.
So who is still going to be doing the flood run?

Had hoped to ride down Friday. Was 89 degrees couple days ago in Fargo...now it's snowing out! Guess I'll wimp out and stay home.

Randy what you are getting now we will have here in a couple of days. Been watching Fargo..... Heidi is in Alex for a convention. I was sweating outside today after work and she called and said it was cold there. She was half way between you and I. Crazy weather this winter and now summer. Hopes it levels out soon. Hard to make plans like this.

I'm still planning on going, but Hilary may back out if the weather's that cold. Sounds like Jim H. will be going as well. Bill, you going to be able to make the run? I'll be searching for my long johns tonight when I get home from work that's for sure:(

I will probably be going for a while. I have to go down to Dean's to pick up my bike anyway. I have a wedding that day so I won't be able to go the whole way. Maybe the first stop.

Steve, I'm still thinking of going, just wondering where this run goes? How many miles will we be putting on? Guess I'll have to dig out the snowmobile bibs again and the full face, it was only 26 F this moring in Buffalo when I got up. Still havn't decided for sure if I'm going or not, Sid are you going? Oh yeh! I'm as dumb as they come. At least thats what my wife says. Rode the 02 to work today without a helmet. Won't make that mistake tomorrow. To Ride Or Not To Ride. OK I'll ride but of course. This flood run can't be worse then last year can it. I'll be there at 8:00 ready to freeze my patoot.

Jim you go down to Prescott WS, next stop Maiden Rock, then Nelson. After that you cross the river back to Minn, through Wabasha down to Buck's Bar in Minnatrisca. Now I know I might have spelled some towns wrong but close enough to find on a map. Wish I could go but like Dean said "It will be cold enough for you Sparky but it won't be raining so I guess it's not bad enough to shame you into coming." :D

I can't remember how many miles we put on last year, but there are alot of stops along the way so hopefully it'll give us a chance to warm up some:) . Last year the coldest part was the ride home for me...so this year I'll be heading back a bit earlier while the sun's still warm. Here's hoping the weatherman's wrong!!
Steve
I just wanted to post a note to all of you hardy souls to have a safe and enjoyable trip. I wish I was going as well, but the Brewpub tour is this Saturday as well. Being the beer snob that I have become, I will be riding a bus between 8 different brewpubs instead of the 2 wheeler. I'm still considering the Birthday Bash ride, so hopefully I'll hook up with most of you by then. Till then, ride safe.

I have been fighting a chest cold these pase few days that at present is on it's way out.
:gunrev: Die germs DIE!:gun:
Depending on how cold it is in the morning I may not risk pneuomia.
I believe I will be like Sparky and meet up with you in Crystal to, at least, see those ones off. At most I will continue on.

I don't envy you guys getting off to such an early start, but I hope you stay warm and safe. I get off work about 10:00, so I will head down that way then. With the electric vest.

Dan, sure hope you feel good enough to go on the run, the bike and people watching are great. Well, I'm gonna fill up on hot coffe and head to Crystal to meet up with Jim H. We'll see ya all at Crystal Marine at 8:00!! Tom, be sure to keep an eye out for us, haven't seen you in a long time...I'll look for the guy who looks "toasty" warm in that vest:mad: .

Had a BLAST today guys! Jim's right...I need a belt:rolleyes: . The darn rear tire didn't break loose...front end came up instead(wierd feeling) and a 25,000 mile old belt couldn't quite take it I guess. Any way, sure had a blast up 'till that point!

Steve,
We need to have more details about this...what were your specifically trying to do? Was Hilary on the bike at the time? What kind of "look" did you get when the belt broke?
I think there's a great story to be heard here.
Chris

No great story to be told:rolleyes: , I had Hil get off and thought I'd do a burnout for the kids. This time the tire wouldn't let loose and up came the front end a few inches. The worst part is, I don't think the kids even saw it! Man, you'd think I'd be old enough to know better.

Give it up Steve. What happened? Sounds like a good story; hope you and the bike are ok.
I didn't get to Maiden Rock until around two o"clock way behind you guys. Lots of bike out this year, but I only saw two other vics. There were so many Harley Davidsons there that they just all started to look the same to me. They want their bikes to stand out in a crowd, and instead they are just one of many. If they want a bike thats different, they should buy one thats different. I like my Victory more each year.
I think many of the people who buy Harleys; buy them because they have low self esteem, and the bike makes them feel like somebody. Vic riders are somebody, and we don't need to say the words I ride a Harley to feel important.

Tom, you're right on about all the HD's looking the same. Even Jim H. commented about after the first couple hundred HD's he saw all blending together...the only ones that stuck out were the nice customs. And he was a hard one to convince NOT to buy HD and go with Victory instead. I think he's extremely happy he didn't follow the rest of the world and got something more unique. Sure sorry we couldn't have hooked up somewhere. For a couple hours in the afternoon it was real pleasant riding, but the morning and evening sure were cold!

Another great ride with great freinds. The Victories are becoming more popular all the time. When the "Los Valentis" rode up and one was riding a flamed black Vic I knew the bike was accepted. Dan sorry you cand Bill couldn't make it. Dean did a great job leading the group as always. Kept us in line and showed us the great cheese factory in Nelson. Nice Curds Dean but I will stick with the Ice Cream.
Steve stop playing Evil Kneivel. I think you should have one of those lighter bikes for the show and the Victory for real riding. Sorry to hear about your belt.

Hey Kit,
Your plan is my plan. I intened to just make it a one day event returning in the evening on Saturday. Be happy to ride back with ya.
Sounds good Dan. All other interested parties are welcome. We'll post more information on the early return group as we get closer to the event.
