I'm developing a searchable index of Victory motorcycle-related web sites to be offered at vicindex.com. It will use a reputable and well-behaved open-source web robot, content indexer and database search interface. It will function like Google, except that only websites with Victory-related content will be scanned and indexed. I'll probably reindex only about once per month.
The appeal of this is that even a single-word search should turn up only Victory-related hits. It would be directed at aftermarket suppliers, sites like mine and the personal web pages of Victory owners if they're devoted to Victory, or even Victory-specific subdirectories of those sites. To refine it I need to start scanning some sites and adjust the configuration (scan depth, etc) before I can publish it. It will not follow any link to a domain not in the list that's supposed to be scanned. This will reduce irrelevant content.
So.....to those of you who have a Victory-related website, or website with partial Victory content, can I include your site in these scans? If so, Email me the URL of your Home Page or a relevant starting page of your site, or post it here. I want to have about a dozen sites to start configuring it.
webmaster@vicindex.com
The traffic generated at your site will be negligable. I won't be scanning any forums unless experiments with my own forums indicate that I can limit the depth and the forum owners have given me permission to scan. Even then, an index of forums would probably be offered as a separate database from the main one.
Each scan will generate one request for each page on your site that's linked to from your Home page or from which ever page you want me to start the scan at. It obeys standard robot rules in "robots.txt" files and page <meta robots> tags. It will identify itself as "PhpDig/1.8.7" in your webserver log.
Kind Regards, and Thanks!
