I think this is happening July 20th...anybody planning on going? I'm thinking about it, but will probably just do the ride this year and not hang out in Hinckley for long. I also noticed that Victory wasn't listed as a sponsor on the brochure this year...found that kind of strange. Any body know anything about it?
Steve
BTW...posted pics from KC in the Vic Pic site if anyones interested.

Good question. I will be going and Sid sounds like he will too. Dan said he is. Who is up to meeting at the normal spot and ride in together. Normal=Crystal Marine. Anyone else planning on the ride?

Did Victory completely pull out of its sponsorship of the Vikings? I see that the ride for life isn't co-sponsored by Victory this year; wonder about the whole package.

I am going, what time at Crystal marine. Earlier for me is better because I want to be in the front of the line going up so I can get out of Hinkley early. Need to be back here around 3:30 or so.

Well, registration doesn't start until 9:30. To get a good spot up front I figure we get to the dome an hour, hour and a half early. So we would meet at Crystal around 7:30 - ish?
With Polaris not among the sponsers this year it is problematical that Victory's will not get special treatment and go to the head of the class, as it were.

Looks like the "Swiffers" are gonna be able to go, maybe the "Hawks" too(after I talk them into it:D ). We'll watch the board later tonight and see what time to meet up at Crystal Marine. I think 8:30-9:00 would be early enough.

I think if we arive down there when registration starts we will be pretty close to the front. I think leaving from crystal marine at 9:00 A.M. should do it.

Rain or shine I will make it to Hinkley. Heidi will not be coming. She has to go to work. :-(
Thumper, can you explain this? Location: Frostbite Falls, MN (Minneapolis) Being from Int'l Falls I do not understand Minneapolis being called "Frostbite Falls" as that was the ole home town name.

Well I am going out to put the Desert Dawgs on. I love those things for the rain.

Sparky, you've got to be kidding?!
Rocky, Bullwinkle, Boris, Natasha (sp?)
Not just the first cartoon with political and social commentary laced throughout, but the best of its day. They managed to make statements that the network sensors never had a clue.
Frostbite Falls was a prime example of the subtle jabs they made at Minnesota. Punsters loved that show.

No kidding, from the Internet I found this too. ... we wondered, is winter driving like in the town Rocky and Bullwinkle dubbed "Frostbite
Falls"? We asked our Senior Web Lackey, Doug Mayer, to dial up Marv and ...
Description: The Car Talk guys interview an International Falls native for expert advice on winter driving.
Check it out, not my words. http://cartalk.cars.com/About/Winter/

Okay - I could just say "Cuz".. But I will give you the real skinny on FrostBite Falls.
I grew up (and live once again) in South Minneapolis, not far from Minnehaha Falls. As a kid of the 50's & 60's (boomer?), I grew up watching, you guessed it, Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. All of us kids used to play down by the falls. In, around and under (behind) the falls itself, all year round. One year one of my friends left his mittens elsewhere (in February) when we made our almost daily trek to "The Falls". By the time we climbed all the rock through snow and ice, Richard's fingers were turning blue. He had frostbite. We took turns loaning Richard our gloves and mittens - warming them up and putting them on his hands. He still had to have his Mom fix him up when we got back home. From that point forward we never let Richard forget his mittens or choppers before we made the trek to:
FrostBite Falls.
There you have it! Certainly MPLS is not typically as cold as International Falls - but when you are 10 years old and lost your mittens, 20 below is 20 below whether you are here in Minneapolis or in Fairbanks Alaska.

Lee I made it home and tried to call and your phone does not work so that is why it was disconnecting when you tried to call home from Hinckley.
Thumper good frostbite story. Bet the snow was a lot deeper then too. Probably up to your chest each year. :D

I got home about 7:00. Stacy says "the damn phone keeps ringing just one time and then stops". We can make outbound calls though. I guess I will have to call the phone co.

I just got home myself. Made it to my sister's party an hour late but we had a great time.
Lee sounds like you may have a voltage problem, too many phones on one line or one extension is defective and drawing too much. Try unpluging one set at a time and see if that makes a difference.

we only have 2 phones (plus my computer). I wonder if maybe the storm did something this morning.

What dan is saying sounds good. I would unplug all but one phone and call from cell. If still disconnects, try the other phone and nothing else, call from cell. Call phone company at last resort as they will charge.

Hope everybody had fun today. I slept right through it. Was all ready to go at 5:00A.M. When rain started about 8:00 A.M. I made breakfast for my wife and I. After breakfast sat down in a comfy chair till the rain stopped. Woke up about 12:20, what a bummer. Had two Vikings flags mounted on the bike all shined up and slept through it. New handle is "Sleepy Skid" Just joking but really wanted to go today sorry I missed it.:(

Well, Sid, actually I waited out the rain and ran up to Hinkley on my own. Left around 12:30. Last year was my first time in a large group and it was cool and all, but 35 is a boring road.
I ran up switching back and forth between 47 and 65 untill I reached 23 and then I took that into Hinkley. A little more verity and a lot less traffic.
I'm thinking that if I do this run again next year we could support the cause but take a different route.
