I seem to have a few hours of free time this Saturday and at this point, the weather looks pretty good.
Anyone up for a ride?

So, don't have a fixed time or fixed routes but do have a fixed destination. I'll be leaving sometime Saturday morning for Sturgis, but only going as far as Mitchell. 2 of the bikes we're going with are leaving early and going straight thru. 2 of the bikes we're going with are leaving Burnsville at 8:00 and staying in Mitchell also. I can't see busting the freeway just to sit in Mitchell for hours of wasted daylight so plan to take a more leisurely route and we'll all hook up at Mitchell. If anyone wants to ride south and west Saturday, that's what we'll be doing.

Hey Rick -
I'm pretty flexibile. I can be gone around 6 or 7 hours (I have two dogs, one of which is old and has "issues") but the departure time is very flexible. I can go in the morning, or afternoon.

Joe - what do you think about doing the alphabet roads South of Prescott, meet up about 11 or after? I'm heading to Eau Claire Saturday night, so visiting the river would work out great for me. And, I haven't been down there yet this year.

Sid and Mark, I'll already be on the SW end of town when I leave for Prescott. If you guys want to swing South on your way outta the cities, we can meet up, maybe around Inver Grove. But if you're going through Stillwater, I probably couldn't make it in time.
Have fun at Doctor's office. :) Don't spend too much (ya right)

I've been trying to post all week but haven't been able to until now (thanks Sparky for fixing whatever it was you fixed). I am meeting some other riders (non-Vicsters...) tomorrow morning at 8:00 at Crosby Lake Park (35E and Shepard Road). Breakfast in Red Wing then some touring around as we make our way back north. We'll try to meet up with you guys in Prescott. It's going to be another great day for riding!

I'm planning on a river run to about LaCrosse or just south of there. I'll try and hook-up at Prescott @11:00.
I'm comming from Stratford, WI and not sure exactly where "No name is" I assume it's right downtown on 35?
Always like to meet fellow Vic riders!

Can't make this ride. Yes No Name is right down town and on 35.
I have to take the Goldwing in on a recall. When folks say stuff about the Victory's needing to be better I laugh. Honda has been in the business of making bike MUCH longer than Victory and the Goldwing line has been here for years. This is a major recall. They have to stip every piece off the bike. Not a plastic bit remaining. Send the frame out to be ground and then rewelded. Then tput all back together.
Honda Recalls 2001-2004 Gold Wing GL1800/1800A for More Frame Cracks
On some Honda Gold Wing 1800/1800A motorcycles, certain frame welds do not meet manufacturing specifications. High loads created when riding on rough road surfaces or through potholes can cause the affected welds to crack. This recall affects the entire Gold Wing 1800 line from 2001-2004. The only 1800s not affected are those that have already been recalled or repaired previously for frame cracks. See the Motorcycle Recalls feature for more details. 34919 units may have been affected.

Wish I could make the ride today, but the wife has made plans for me. You guys know how I always bend over to the wifes plans :sarcastic ! This time I think I better stick around though. I got in trouble last week for extending my Saturday ride.
I went down to Betty's Bike's and Bun's to check out the "World's Biggest Poker Run" that Team Strange was putting on. I wasn't sure if I was interested in it but after talking to the guys there, I decided to go on it. It wasn't your typical poker run though. They gave you about 25-30 stops to choose from, each one worth a different number of cards. You could do as many or as few as you wanted. There was a "mandatory" base route of 9 stops, but you didn't have to stop at those either. (confused yet?) If you didn't stop at the "mandatory" stops however, you were penalized at the end how ever many cards that stop was worth. Many of the stops were those little roadside history markers you see everywhere. You would have to record some detail off of each one to prove that you were there (how much did Paul Bunyans anchor weigh?, etc.). One stop was in a little town where you had to find a certain grave marker in the local cemetary and note the sport depicted on the head stone. Fun!
At 9:00am they handed out the route sheets and you could leave any time after 10:00. You had to be back by 10:00am Sunday or none of it counted! The base route was about 550 miles . Some of the bonus stops were located in Nebraska, Missouri, North Dakota, and a bunch in South Dakota, including Sturgis (one guy went there) :goofy: . I was just planning on doing a few of the stops and then heading home for the night, but it didn't work out that way.
I started out by going to Fargo to get a receipt from a motorcycle shop that was only open until 3:00 (worth 8 cards). Then I headed south, thinking I still had plenty of time to hit a few other stops and still get home . At about 9:00 pm I called the wife from Desmet, South Dakota and told her that I wouldn't be home, I was going to get a room somewhere. They wanted you to get some rest though, and gave a five card bonus if you had two receipts from the same town at least 4 hours apart. I checked into a little fleabag motel in New Ulm at 1:09am, took a shower and slept for about 2 1/2-3 hours. The gas receipt that I got from the station across the street showed 5:11 on the receipt; 4 hours and 2 minutes, perfect! I still had time to make it to Mankato, and a few small towns on the western side of the cities before getting back to Betty's on time. I put 933 miles on and had a great time!
So anyways, that's why I can't go riding today.

I ran into you guys yesterday at the WI 35/US 63 junction just north of Bay City. I was the red TC going north (I had just ditched the other guys I was riding with) heading to our cabin. Sounds like you had a nice ride -- except for Sid. Sorry to hear about your bike.
