I heard Tom's son (15) had a heart attack, and is in intensive care, and has been there since this past weekend. I know Tom has been out of work all week, and probably will be for a while. If the club would like to send flowers, or start a little fund, I would be happy to contribute. He has been their for us since the begining.

I think a card or flowers would be nice. Sounds like he's stable, but I can't even imagine what Tom's going through right now.

WOW Im so saddened to hear that someone so young would go through something like that. My prayers are with Tom's son and the family.

Hey, count me in on flowers, if that's what's decided.

I'm up for flowers as well as donation toward something else...a certificate for a meal or something, so the family can have an evening where they don't have to worry about something like dinner and instead can focus on what's really important--their family. Who's going to start collecting?

Tuba, we have sent you money in the past, and you have proven to be an honest guy. If you don't mind doing this. I will put a check in the mail. All I need is your address. Do what ever you feel is right with what I send.

I'll be willing to collect from folks, and I'll keep a rolling tab for people to know where we're at (I won't indicate who gave what, but simply how much we have). I'll add my donation to the number as soon as the first check comes in. We should make a "deadline" (probably an inappropriate word considering the topic) of the 19th so that we can present the gift (flowers, at the least) in a week or so. I might get on the flowers sooner than that.
If you want to kick something in, you can send it to:
Me (Chris Russell)
8625 81st St S
Cottage Grove, MN 55016
Or you can drop an envelope off if you happen to stop by.

Thanks Chris, for those of you who have never met Tom. He is always there to talk about Victorys . I did not buy my motorcycle from Warners, yet he and Dean always take the time to talk to me, and give me their opinions. They never act like they don't have time to help, so if I can return that favor in some way, it does brighten my day.
By the way this is practice. I am getting involved
in raising money for St. Joseph's home for Children. If anyone is looking for a worthy cause to contribute to this is it. If you would like some information feel free to e-mail me. This is an up lifting place for kids who are down and out.

My check will be in the mail tonight, or Saturday at the latest.
I stopped by Warners today, (beat your time Steve) and Dean said Tom's son is still critical. Sounds like they are waiting for his strength to return so they can operate. He is only around 15 or so I think.

Good seeing many of you at Warner's today. The fund is officially open...I'll wait until a few more dollars come in before I post where we're at...we also need to wait for a little while, as Tom's son still is in ICU, and thus cannot have flowers in that room. I will be checking with Dean on a regular basis as to the status of Tom's son.
I've also decided (hopefully this is okay) that whatever surplus we collect here above and beyond the cost of the flowers, I'll put into a gift certificate for Tom's son...something that he enjoys that he can use when he gets well (this encourages that line of thinking). Dean, on first thought, said that something with bowling might be right up his alley (pun intended). I asked him to "probe around" and to come up with a solid idea or place so I could get the certificate when we're ready (and he's ready) for it. Again, I'll be talking with Dean on a regular basis.
More later...

He IS going to be there as he is making a trade tomorrow. So you might try calling him to set up times. I got my money to him in person cause I know I am bad about sending out stuff.

I think Sparky_Bill was being ambigious there, just to peak your interest. No, I'm not trading for a TC, although that's what I would trade for (I'd actually have to ask Dean to sell me the demo model). I traded my XXL classic jacket with Jerry who had a XXXL and wanted the opposite. We're both happy now, I think.
I will be stopping by Warner's later this week, so if anyone wants to leave a donation in an envelope for me at Warner's, Dean said that would be okay.
Dean also mentioned that they will be getting several "special bend" handlebars this coming week...something I've been waiting for.

Here's the first tally (so far) with 5 donors, we have collected $65 for the cause. Today (Monday, 6/17) was my first day of classes at the U, so I'll be stopping in at Warner's tomorrow to see where everything is at with Tom's son. If people still want to send in donations to the cause, you certainly can. As soon as we get a "locked in" location, I'll be ordering flowers, and we'll see what's left over.
Any suggestions as to what to put on the card?

Don't worry, we've still got time. I stopped in at Warner's today and picked up (and had installed) my new "special bend" handlebars. Tom's son received a pacemaker today and is still in ICU. No futher information.
We've got $80 collected so far, and there weren't any envelopes left at Warner's to their knowledge (so if you left something, we need to track it down).
Sparky_Bill and I talked the other night, and in addition to the flowers, the rest will be a gift of money to the family for their decision...whether for a gift for Tom's son or just for expenses. This seems to be the best way to handle things.
If anyone else wishes to donate, feel free to send a check.

Hi Chris,
I was planning to drop a check off at Warners, but I didn't make it there before they closed on Saturday. Can I give you some cash friday night?

Hi All,
I just wanted to let you know that the fund jumped today to $160 as several more donations rolled in. Thank you to one member in particular who will remain nameless...you know who you are.
I'll be stopping by Warners on Friday afternoon to see what's up and to assess what needs to happen next.
Thank you to all of you who have contributed...I'm sure that Tom and his family will appreciate it in these times.
Lee, you surely can hand me an envelope on Friday.

Update on Tom's son, as of Thursday late morning.
Sounds like he had gotten a bit better, at least enough so they could go ahead and put in the pace maker, during the surgery, he went into full cardiac arrest. They had to stop, and he is now on life support.

Pat, I heard about that from Chad yesterday...#### I can't imagine what The family is going through. I keep thinking of my kids and wonder how I'd react to something like this. Sure hope he pulls through this!:(

Just so everyone knows, we're now at $180 for contributions. As soon as Tom's son is out of ICU, I'll send the flowers.

Any more updates on Tom's son? Dean had told me on Wednesday that Tom's 15-year-old son, born with heart problems, had a blood clot and was having a pacemaker put in. I had no idea of the cardiac arrest or life support. Tom is a great guy, so if it's not too late, I would like to contribute as well. I can mail a check tomorrow. Please let me know if anyone knows more.
Thanks.

I hate to bring up an old subject, but Tom had a request that I'd love to follow up on. Tom asked if I could supply a list of everyone who donated to the cause, as he would like to send a personal thank-you to everyone instead of a "group" message. I said that we could do that.
The problem is that I don't officially know where all of you are. So, if you donated towards the cause, please send me an e-mail with your name and address so that I can pass that on to Tom. No, we won't identify who gave what amount; but I think we can honor Tom's request.
So, send those e-mails!
