Funny you should say that . This is a picture of the first time I met Doug. We rode to Osceola. 9 of us northerners met 9 from Warners at Marine on the St.Croix. I believe this picture is Doug on his way to the Chili feed.

Yup, Doug before he joined the TCVR. Doug, tell the story about your trailer.

Well,.... Gee Bill,

Not sure wich story your thinking of, there are so many.

I guess the begining starts with, it is a home built on a basic kit from Northern that I chopped 10" out of the middle to narrow it enough so it wouldn't clip other bikes or cars that would pass me while I was in the slow lane.

Or are you talking about the story behind the straps holding the top on??

If that's the case,..... Then,.........

It all started with a trip to Colorado in February 2000. The bike in the back of the truck. The trailer hooked behind the truck. OK,,, off we go, myself and my girlfriend (who is now my wife) with a plan to drive to Durango and ride the bike to Las Vegas for a wedding (not ours) with all of our gear in the trailer. Overall it was a great trip and there are many other stories to tell about this trip but I think this is the story you are thinking of.

As we were heading home, truck loaded decending down wolf creek pass (maby going just a little fast) kinda snowing like a BICH at night started hitting some rough road as I tried to slow down the road was getting rougher and rougher and I tried to swerve to miss a larger pothole when all of a sudden......... the damn trailer swung to one side of the truck "SMASH" took out one tail light, (still hitting the brakes trying to slow down) when all of a sudden......... "SMASH" ... there goes another tail light (still hitting the brakes trying to slow down) the next thing I saw was sparks in the mirror and a loud scrapping noise and a "CRUNCH" I think the trailer just tipped over (now the truck is comming to a stop!!) As I get out and survey the damage I notice the trailer is on its side, and the whole top has been ripped completely from the trailer, our stuff is scatterd for about a 100 yards in the middle of the road and I can hear the 3 big rigs that I passed on the way up the pass riding the jake as they descend the pass all to close behind us. :Horror: Karen is laughing her ass off in disbelief of what has just happened. :floor: I flip the trailer over on its wheels and start grabbing all of our stuff, running back and forth over and over untill I have all of it picked up and crammed in every available space in the truck.... just in time for the first rig to pass us. We get back in the truck and continue down the pass to the first rest stop so I can clean my pants out. :Butt: Karen was still laughing her ass off as I now start to laugh along with her.

I still have the trailer and plan on fixing it somday but it still works fine after twisting the toung back and puting a couple ratchet straps on the top
