I got my album started by only selecting one pic to start. But, when you open it is huge. How come? I have no experience with this stuff and want to learn. I took the pics with a 4 megapixel camera I think. Is this the problem? Is there a way to compress or downsize it to make it work better? Any help would be great, 'cause I don't know anything now...so I can only improve. Thanks!

+Normally, when you wish to reduce the overall size of your digital image John, you'd utilize one of the various image processing programs available (nrmally, one comes with the camera).
In my case, I usually use the CAMEDIA program that came with my Olympus camera to resize the image, but I can also use my IEditor program or a few others.
Depending on your system, you may even be able to use Microsoft Photo Editor, which has a "Resize" option (simply change the percentage and click) in the Image choice on the task bar.
Resizing your image to a smaller dimension is the solution you're seeking. If you can find one of your image processing programs with a resize (or sometimes called "resample") option, you should be able to figure it out because you're almost there.
Ride on.

John, I also have Camedia master like Tim. Whatever software came with your camera should have some editing devices in it. For sure there should be a re-sizing option in there somewhere. I used to e-mail pics to people and had no idea they were getting to them so friggin huge:eek: Finally someone told me and I looked for the re-size...all's well now.

As a general rule, I resize my pics to be no larger than 750 pixels wide (the programs are usually smart enough to keep things in aspect ratio). Since many people are still using 800x600 screen images, this allows the picture to be on "one page." In addition, pictures generally stay small enough in size to be downloaded quickly enough.
On a similar note, my new version of Internet Explorer (6.0.2) automatically resizes pictures so they fit on the open window. Kind of a good idea, and you can "expand" the picture when you need to.

John,
Your image is large (859K) but not unmanageable. At that size you can upload them two at a time. In general I agree with tuba - optimum size for the internet is about 800x600. There are cases where large size is preferable, such as to showcase details, ie. the custom paint jobs displayed in user "wingsanwheels" albums.
About downsizing using an image editor: Your images are in JPEG format. An unavoidable side affect of reducing a JPEG is loss of detail. It shouldn't be too noticeable, but for future images I have a different suggetion. Most large-format digital cameras allow the operator to select a smaller format (800x600 is common), and you may wish to select this size for common applications. You won't capture as much initial detail at this setting, but you won't have to downsize them on your computer, either.

I can take up to a 2048 x 1536, but I usually take them at 1280 X 960. Then I copy them to my computer at that size so I have the original with more detail. I then resize them in the camera and I can download them to the net right from there. another advantage to using a lower resolution is that you can put more pics on your chip/card. BTW, my cam is a Sony DSC-P1.

IMHO, the picture could still be lightened up a bit, until the house in the background was actually white and the sky actually blue. If the picture was taken with an Olympus camera, I've found that the Olympus pictures always need to be "lightened up" quite a bit, especially when there isn't a lot of light in the picture. Thankfully nothing gets lost in the process...
As for the size, it could still be smaller...
And, as usual, I'm overly picky.
I'll be swinging by my t-shirt place about t-shirts soon. More to follow. I had the message the last time...NO BLACK SHIRTS.

I figured out how to resize them and did so to all of my pics. Now I have to play around w/ Microsoft Editor and familiarize myself with all of it's abilities....

Actually, the logo is self-contained with 3-4 different colors, none of them relying on the background color of the shirt, so, theoretically, we could order any color. I need to see if they will let us order a mix of colors with such a potentially small order---they've been incredibly flexible in the past. I may even have the logo screened onto some nylon material so I can make a "flag" for my motorcycle (one side has the American flag, the other is empty). We'll see...
All further discussion on the shirts will be under the TCVR topic. And the other good news is that once we have a screen, we never have to pay for set-up again.
